Tortured Soul Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Stay out of Mountain view or Fairveiw. Belive me. Go to Eagle river or South Anchorage. Damn. I'm not too far from those parts. I found a place just north of UAA. Is it just crappy homes or safety too?
ExiledInIllinois Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Not to derail this thread... But on another animal/wildlife oddity... At work we usually get waterfowl that return and breed every year... Ducks and Canadian Geese... Not strange seeing the birds hatch this year... The thing that is is odd is one Canadian geese brood... I counted 25 goslings! No Jon and Kate jokes! In the past there have always been around 10 or so... But this year, mama and papa goose are sheparding 25 around... And all of them are getting bigger by the day... Not dropping off, lost or eaten. Is 25 a lot or do geese "day care" for others??? I wonder what is going to happen to this family when the Rotenone the river and kill all the fish next week? Can it harm geese? Especially the young ones?
ExiledInIllinois Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Good post!! Hey... I haven't been here in a while... I have an image to maintain... Think of me like the adults on Peanuts/Charlie Brown. Translation: BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH! WAA WAA WAA!
Jim in Anchorage Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 Damn. I'm not too far from those parts. I found a place just north of UAA. Is it just crappy homes or safety too? Just North of UAA would be Fairview. High crime rate is the problem. But you may be alright, it is flooded with cops lately, but I would seriously reconsider and go to South Anchorage. Little longer drive to UAA, but worth it.
Jim in Anchorage Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 I was shooting for the south/warmer angle... Is that where the landslides/tide problems happened off the Cook Inlet/Turnagain Arm? That would be Ocean view or Bootleggers cove, home of the aptly named earthquake park. And yes they are asking for it.

Jim in Anchorage Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 I did some quick research... Ted Stevens lives at the end of the arm... Ted lives in Girdwood, a hotsy totsy ski resort for the ultra high class. Just flew over it Sat. full of $1M "Ski Cabins".
