One of the benefits of living in Alaska

Recommended Posts

Not to derail this thread... But on another animal/wildlife oddity... At work we usually get waterfowl that return and breed every year... Ducks and Canadian Geese... Not strange seeing the birds hatch this year... The thing that is is odd is one Canadian geese brood... I counted 25 goslings! No Jon and Kate jokes! In the past there have always been around 10 or so... But this year, mama and papa goose are sheparding 25 around... And all of them are getting bigger by the day... Not dropping off, lost or eaten. Is 25 a lot or do geese "day care" for others???

I wonder what is going to happen to this family when the Rotenone the river and kill all the fish next week? Can it harm geese? Especially the young ones?

Damn. I'm not too far from those parts. I found a place just north of UAA.

Is it just crappy homes or safety too?

Just North of UAA would be Fairview. High crime rate is the problem. But you may be alright, it is flooded with cops lately, but I would seriously reconsider and go to South Anchorage. Little longer drive to UAA, but worth it.
