billsfan89 Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Kyle Williams and Troup are going to be the dynamic duo to handle the all important NT spot. But what is going on with Kyle Williams. I remember hearing before the draft that Williams was aiming to put on weight in the 310-315 range. Is there any news on what Williams is doing to try to become an NT?
C.Biscuit97 Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 I get your thought process but as it is, Williams weighs more than Jay Ratliff, the Cowboys pro bowl 3-4 NT. http://www.nfl.com/players/jayratliff/profile?id=RAT586227 http://www.nfl.com/players/kylewilliams/profile?id=WIL415284 I get why they want him to put on wieght but personally, I'd be fine with KW at his current weight. Troup will be more of the run stuffer and KW will be a pass rusher. That combo would be hard for any center to deal with.

I don't want the guy to try to put on mass just to weight more I would rather the guy be a fast solid 300 pounds then put on 15 pounds of fat just to add mass. I would like to see the guy get stronger and bigger in order to be better suited for the NT.

I don't want Williams to lose any of his quickness. I could definitely see him giving centers a lot of fits after they had to fight with a bulkier Troup.

Yeah but if he is too light and unable to maintain his ground against double teams he could be a big time liability. I think if he gained 10-15 pounds of muscle and fat he would be more effective. Bottom line I would trade a little quickness for more stability in the ground game. NT's get doubled a lot more and while Troup is bulkier we need 2 guys that can handle the run. But I hear you about not wanted the guy to loose that much of his quickness.
