The Big Cat Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Right, Facebook does the same thing in its status updates now ... but only if the person is on your friends list, I think. Not sure about that, though. Exactly how do you foresee them being pinged? PM? Email? Other? It could be customizable. PM's and emails would probably be easiest for you. But as Lori mentions, it's a feature now on Facebook, and personally I like their soft notification system: when you log-on, an icon near the top of the site with a drop down indicator appears then dissolves after you click on it. But, again, that's just my own preference. A PM or an email notification works just as well, or you give people the option to not receive that email, and only get the PM's as they interface now.
The Big Cat Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 I think he implied not using Twitter specifically. Right, but it's a Twitter method that can be applied to TSW user names. So, for example, in a post on TSW I'd write, "Boy the Bills sure are awesome, right @Lori?" And then the inclusion of the "@" turns "Lori" into hypertext while also pinging the user "Lori" that somebody has mentioned her.
Chef Jim Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 how do you foresee them being pinged? PM? Email? Other? Postcard.
Mr. WEO Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Will it have that thing that allows you to do that stuff?
Just Jack Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Will it have that thing that allows you to do that stuff? As long as you're a subscriber to that thing that does that stuff.
CountDorkula Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Will the updates finally end the "Last post wins" thread
SDS Posted May 6, 2010 Author Posted May 6, 2010 here is a post outlining the changes: http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/3...s-and-services/ although it is even greater than that because these are the changes from 3.0 to 3.1. There is a whole slew of changes from 2.x to 3.0 not listed...
eSJayDee Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Will it work with mine? Latest tech I think that's actually the 2nd cellphone I had (1st was a much nicer Panasonic) IIRC, they each cost like $1k each (company paid for them). My, how times have changed. Now, phones have more non-volatile memory than PCs used to have!
Clippers of Nfl Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Dude, I haven't upgraded this board's software for YEARS. I skipped like 10 versions. Eventually, it becomes a security risk as this version is no longer supported. Not to mention, the way people interact on the internet evolves over time.... so you're a lazy bum! forget you. just kidding. thx for your work and dedication.
