Who cares what Oakland thinks. Aren't they the ones who still think that Jamarcus Russell is a QB?

Every single OL on the Oakland Raiders looks bad regardless of where he was drafted which to me says more about scheme then it does about talent....

I am further convinced of this when we got Langston Walker (who Oakland fans called a soft turnstile player) he comes to us and often was the most solid OL we had on the field even though we switched him from RT to LT regularly and he played hurt........

I think the problem is Oakland not the players themselves.....I hear Green is a nasty run blocker but the penalties concern me.

On the other hand I have seen reports that Green Bay fans were upset they lost Jamon Meradith.......who has a LOT of potential.......he is the player I am banking on at that spot.

sub-par. took 13 penalties last year. makes Bell look like Walter Jones in that category.

Never having watched Green play and going off of that link above, if you remove penalties, Green was decent in pass and run blocking (according to their rating system, he was positive in both). Where he got killed was penalties. But as has been mentioned, the Raiders' offense can make anyone look bad and their lack of discipline doesn't help matters. I saw this article posted on another website, and it talked about Gailey during his time with the Cowboys:

Specifically this part:

Detail-oriented Chan Gailey is making a big difference in Dallas

Chan Gailey didn't raise his voice. His tone wasn't demeaning, just emphatic. It was the same tone that the Cowboys' coach had used three months earlier when he told his players that they couldn't be late for meetings anymore and couldn't miss weigh-ins anymore and had to adhere to a precise schedule for the first time since Barry Switzer took over for Jimmy Johnson after the 1993 season.

"In this game against the Cardinals, I want no presnap penalties, no false starts, no offsides, no illegal formations," Gailey said to his team last week before its NFC East showdown at Arizona. "I can understand when a face-mask penalty or a hold happens. But I will not accept any more presnap penalties. They show a lack of concentration."

Dallas scored on four of its first six possessions, racing to a 28-0 lead without committing any presnap penalties. The only such miscue came 37 minutes into the game, when tight end David LaFleur flinched before a snap. "That's the way it should be," Gailey said matter-of-factly, sitting by his locker after the Cowboys' harrowing 35-28 win. "If you're a smart team—and you have to be to win consistently—you don't commit those penalties. I try not to make frivolous statements to the team. I want them to know that everything I do has a direct correlation to winning.

If Gailey can get Green to cut down on the false starts (he had 7 in 2009), it will help immensely.

So all you have to do is TELL the guys not to commit penalties (emphatically)?

It's so simple---yet it makes so much sense!

Hope this secret method doesn't get figured out by other HC's in the league...

3 years at a reported $9 million Green doesn't sound like a backup to me. If he doesn't win the job outright I'd consider cutting him and look for a cheaper alternative.

I wonder if Wang to easily play RT.

Maybe telling them emphatically, instead of say, trying to punch them in the face, works. The bigger point being that he was solid in pass and run blocking. The penalties, while concerning, affect on average a drive per game.

Good question. Either way, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't start. Depends on how well the young guns do I suppose.

Jamon Meredith will probably (should) start. You don't build up a young team and then let old vets take playing time away from them. This year is a throw away year, let the kids get the most experience they can.
