Are they really that good?

I am curious what you guys think of our secondary going into this season. Last year every team that we played, especially in the division, new that running the ball was going to be their top priority in beating us. Also, we play soft zone and played off the receivers all the time. My question is if we can indeed stop the run and teams focus more on passing against us, will our secondary look as good? Can our guys successfully play press coverage when we blitz? I personally have no idea. It could be good, or it could get ugly.

Could also work both ways. If we can stop the run, Whitner or another safety won't have to constantly cheat against the run. Having a head coach who's only expertise was DB's at least gives you a decent secondary.

Prob good enough for now and if we have actual improvement up front (pressure on the QB) then that's only going to help the secondary as well.

I think this is dead on. Why pass if you can run five-six yards a pop. That said, Jauron knows his secondary and we have a great group. A pass rush will make them better.

The pass defense was 2nd in yards allowed, which by itself means little since if teams chose to run mostly, they'd pass less and that would lead to less passing yards. However the Bills were also 2nd in pass yards per play, which is the most important stat, tied for 2nd in TD passes allowed, and 3rd in opposing QB completion percentage and INT's. IOW the pass defense was for real.

You beat me to it with those stats. The Pass Defense is legit.
