keepthefaith Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 This is a huge issue for me, right up there with deficit spending. I applaud Arizona for taking action. Racial profiling will be a problem. They'll have to find ways to apply the new law more fairly. We do need a better system of ID. It's amazing to me how soft both parties in Washington have been on illegal immigration for years. Washington has failed miserably at border security and has shown no will to correct the problem. The invasion (it is a invasion) of illegal immigrants from the south has created so many short and long term problems. The Democratic position which leans heavily toward amnesty is highly hypocritical. How can the party of jobs and labor support the inclusion of illegals into our workplace when each and every illegal alien that finds work is taking that job from a potential democratic voter or even worse a union member? You can't be for jobs and put out the welcome mat for illegals. Bush was a wimp on the issue and chose to ignore it (like he ignored so many other things). There's only one common sense answer to this. Secure the borders, tell these people to leave and deny them jobs and services if they're here. We can't afford to continue to support them or to add the burden of 10+ million citizens to our entitlement programs. Not now or later. Fat chance this will happen.
KD in CA Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 "They will look at the kind of dress you wear, there is different type of attire, there is different type of -- right down to the shoes, right down to the clothes." That and they're always standing around in groups on a street corner or beneath the underpass. Not so hard to spot if you're looking for them.
IDBillzFan Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Funny how the same people who are quick to call Obama a socialist and use images of Hitler to characterize his policies, support the type of policies that were used by police in Germany and the Soviet Union. Look, you can't pretend that you're smart about some stuff only to prove your ridiculous stupidity by pretending you don't know where the Hitler images come from. Virtually every person on the left who brings this up knows that these are the LaRouche folks, who play for the left, not the right. We know this because only someone that stupid on the left would put their website at the bottom of the photos. Unless, maybe you are that stupid and really believe everything you hear and not what you see...in which case, you might want to consider changing the channel and try looking at things for what they are, not what you hope them to be.
Jim in Anchorage Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 According to Rep. Brian Bilbray (R-Calif.), "trained professionals" can identify undocumented workers just by looking at their clothes. "They will look at the kind of dress you wear, there is different type of attire, there is different type of -- right down to the shoes, right down to the clothes." http://yglesias.thinkprogress.org/archives...their-shoes.php Funny how the same people who are quick to call Obama a socialist and use images of Hitler to characterize his policies, support the type of policies that were used by police in Germany and the Soviet Union. Interesting. I was never aware Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union were flooded with illegal immigrates. You might want to quit the absurd comparisons. There is quite a difference between rounding up political opponent's for execution and SENDING PEOPLE WHO ARE ILLEGALLY IN THIS COUNTRY BACK TO THE COUNTRY THEY CAME FROM.
Jim in Anchorage Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Why doesn't Arizona just crack down on hiring illegal immigrants? The way they are going about this is strange, hateful, and makes me sort of think they have some other motive besides stopping illegal immigration. Which would be?

What's funnier is big government apologists like yourself complaining when big government uses/abuses its power. You're getting exactly what you signed up for.
Keukasmallies Posted April 26, 2010 Author Posted April 26, 2010 Interestingly, when a school district identifies a non-resident attending a school in the district, they immediately throw them out and require they register in their district of residence. When that happens taxpayers usually applaud the district's diligence in making sure the district's resources are used only for resident students. Could be a microcosm of the AZ thing, No?
whateverdude Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 You don't get it. A police officer can ALREADY do what you said. Read the new law again. The police officer is required to question Alien status of LAWFULLY behaving people that he has reason to suspect are alien. no, I read it right

It could be that the legislators are just idiots.
Wacka Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 That and they're always standing around in groups on a street corner or beneath the underpass. Not so hard to spot if you're looking for them. Or working for a gardening company. The manager speaks English, the rest nod and smile when you ask them a question.
finknottle Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 First they came for the Hispanics and I did nothing... You forgot "high income earners."
IDBillzFan Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Being a Democrat does not make you a "big government apologist". There are many tenets of the party and many varying views within it. It could me an you are pro-environment or anti-corporatocracy or pro-choice or just sick of the overbearing hypocrisy in the Republican side, or most likely some combination of these types of things. "A girl. You can call a girl 'she.' That's just one of the many things you can call a 'she.' " --Navin R. Johnson.

bills_fan Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Papers please. Then barcode tattoos. Then tracking chip implants. First they came for the Hispanics and I did nothing... Correction...first they came for the smokers and you did nothing.
John Adams Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 no, I read it right You said: It will be used just like all the other times reasonable suspicion is used. In the course of the officers official duties he stops a person for illegal operation of the truck like the lawnmower not being tied down in a safe and legal manner or speeding ect..and the driver cannot produce a valid license or produces a Mexican license or cannot tell the officer his or hers place of residence than that would be reasonable suspicion to check their status What you said above could be done before this law was passed. This law expands the government's ability to challenge immigration status based on reasonable suspicion, even when some guy is reading the newspaper on a park bench.
IDBillzFan Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Awesome MSNBC Headline: AZ Law Makes It A Crime To Be An Illegal Alien. Liberals are so funny,
erynthered Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Awesome MSNBC Headline: AZ Law Makes It A Crime To Be An Illegal Alien. Liberals are so funny, You mean there are laws against illegal immigrants in this country?? Wow! I never knew that. The recent (last 30 years) history shows that it doesnt work. Can I get some cheese and some free medical care? Maybe some public housing? Mabe some food stamps? Maybe some social security? Maybe some free education? How'd you like the new reports on the obamahealth care costs????? God I fear for my children............Their !@#$ed..........
erynthered Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 I hate when healthcare, food, shelter, and education kill people. Those things are so dangerous. They are dangerous when the potential to bankrupt this country is at stake. Moran.

You're getting exactly what you signed up for. What's even funnier is that you don't acknowledge that the politicians who I have voted for don't support the AZ law, but don't let facts get in the way of your generalizations. Where's all the libertarians protesting this policy? Too busy at the Tea-Party protests attacking Obama? You mean there are laws against illegal immigrants in this country?? Wow! I never knew that. The recent (last 30 years) history shows that it doesnt work. Can I get some cheese and some free medical care? Maybe some public housing? Mabe some food stamps? Maybe some social security?
