Weaknesses: Has limited career experience and instincts, as well as a slow motor for the position. Is a slow-twitch athlete with marginal initial quickness out of his stance. Shows marginal lateral quickness and range in pursuit. Plays with marginal strength and leverage at the point of attack. Struggles to shed from blockers. Plays tentatively. Lacks the athletic ability, speed and range to project to outside linebacker for a 3-4 defense. Did not have a single sack in three games we evaluated. Bottom line: Witten is a bit of tease because of his numbers and growth potential. He is not instinctive, tough or physical enough to make it at the NFL level, but someone will likely take a flyer on him late in the seventh round.
