John Adams Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 He can get to the edge fast, and now that the edge starts at Levitre, he has that much more room to work with.
scribo Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 He is a willing blocker. In every aspect, he likes contact. I don't think he'll have any issues picking up blitzing DBs.
playman Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 blocking? hell be out on a route every single time. and turn the 1.5 sec checkdown pass into a 85 yd TD
tennesseeboy Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 yup...he'll run the route and turn quick enough to actually see the quarterback get knocked on his ass. He's like TO. Ineffective without a front line.
The Senator Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 blocking? hell be out on a route every single time. and turn the 1.5 sec checkdown pass into a 85 yd TD I have to agree that his play-making ability can help compensate for the lack of a road-grading o-line - he'll make our QB, whomever that ends up being, look better.
Kingfish Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 blocking? hell be out on a route every single time. and turn the 1.5 sec checkdown pass into a 85 yd TD Screw checkdowns. Watch this guy run the Go Route and you're going to faint.
papazoid Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 saw a piece by Gruden's camp on spiller... says and showed he is a "willing" blocker.
Wizard Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 saw a piece by Gruden's camp on spiller... says and showed he is a "willing" blocker. "willing" blocker is a polite way of saying he isn't good at it, but he'll try. It is like saying a woman is "nice", has a "sweet disposition", when it is a cover to say that she isn't too attractive on the outside.

No, I believe "willing blocker" means not afraid to stick your nose in there and HIT somebody, not afraid to initiate contact. As compared to a soft RB or WR who does all they can to avoid contact.

Mike in Syracuse Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHu5Isnmshk
stuckincincy Posted April 23, 2010 Author Posted April 23, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHu5Isnmshk The vid stopped, and I couldn't get is re-started when Gruden asked about blitz pickup. Might be me and my computer - I'm sure no YouTube sophisticate...
Canadian Bills Fan Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 saw a piece by Gruden's camp on spiller... says and showed he is a "willing" blocker. can someone post a youtube link that has gruden camp on spiller? I tried searching and I cant find it..only the QB camps
C.Biscuit97 Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I believe like most star college rbs, he probably wasn't asked to block much. Supposedly, that is the biggest adjustment from college to the pros for rbs.
Canadian Bills Fan Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 great now it says the video has been removed
McBeane Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 great now it says the video has been removed they are on espn.com just search for "Gruden Camp"
mob16151 Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 He's a sub 200 pound RB. Blocking skills need work. But if he does work at it, no reason he cant be a Kevin Faulk type blocker in the backfield.
PDaDdy Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Like many have already said. Blocking? If he is blocking we are using him the wrong way. Let the oline, the TEs or the full back block for this guy. As a side note I see no reason why we won't have multiple 2 or 3 RB sets. RB is by far our biggest asset on offense. Let's use em. Now all we need is Roger Saffold whose forte I believe I read was run blocking. Although I would 110% fine with getting Claussen if he is there and the front office thinks they have some viable solutions to improve the o-line on the edges.
