Jets seem to do this every year

and so do the Redskins. They make a bunch of off season moves, sign some dudes, trade for some guys, and at the end of the day they only have a few more wins the greatest team ever(Bills). The Jets only averaged 1 more win a season over the last decade, then the Bills did. Don't worry the jets will have another 2-14 season soon.

Are you willing to wager on this?

They really have no problem with litterally taking the best player available all through the draft. They really don't have any glaring holes.

To be honest, their only glaring hole is at QB. You hate to root against a kid, but you have to hope Sanchez doesn't progress past his 53.8% completion, 12TD/20INT performance last year. Also, I think Alan Faneca is getting a bit old and this could be his last season of solid productivity as a starter. They need help at DE, and thankfully it looks like Gholston is gonna bust at OLB. Don't know who starting at FS with Rhodes gone. And Nick Folk blows. But yeah, solid otherwise. Scary that they keep getting better...although I still root for them earnestly against the Patriots.

yeah but they have only had rex for one year. it looks he is building a dynasty and they be taking the place of the ne patriots as the team to beat in the afc east.

Yeah, QB is their biggest problem. But if a 1st rounder who only played for one year is your worst player, your futer doesn't look too bad. Especially draft wise. They might have some QB issues, but they aren't looking for a QB.

And I agree with your other points as well. They could use some depth and a little help in spots. But they aren't desperate for help by a longshot.

The Jets have 2 big ticking time bombs that are going to possibly derail their season.

1- (The Obvious) Mark Sanchez - Is he a legit NFL QB? I mean he had Jamarcus Russel like numbers his rookie season and what games could you point to and honestly say he won. More experience plus a new toy at WR doesn't always mean he will flourish.

2- (The not so obvious) The Offensive Line - Mangold is a stud at center and the unit is very good BUT Damion Woody and Alan Faneca are both a year older and are well into their 30's, Ferguson while a solid LT isn't an anchor that can step it up without Faneca. So the Jets Line is depending on 2 guys well into their 30's and 2 decent starters (Clarke and Ferguson).

Yeah the D is nasty especially with the addition of Chromarte in the secondary and the special teams is solid. BUT their offense has a lot of issues I mean they aren't exactly set at RB Tomlinson is old and Washington is coming off of injury and Green might not be able to handle the increased carries.

ALSO Injuries could easily be the great equalizer.

Sounds like you have had a few too many Utica Clubs (do they still make that beer?) because the difference with the Jets over the last decade has been they have made the playoffs 50% of the time (01, 02, 04, 06, 09), whereas the Bills have had no playoffs appearances since 1999.

Jets

Bills

Want to see the difference between the Jets and the Bills? The above are links to drafthistory.com. Start at 2006 and look at the way each team drafted. While the Bills were loading up the roster with so-so at best defensive backs, the Jets were building their foundation.

It isn't a mystery; it's right there to see. When the Jets DID use an early pick on a defensive back he was a star, not a gadget player or an under productive, issue plagued motor mouth.

People on this board were screaming for the Bills to trade down in 2006 and Levy had many offers to do so. We could have drafted Mangold AND picked up another 2nd round pick for doing so. Instead, Marv and Dick decided to use a #8 for Lil Donte. That was the beginning of a long, ugly 4 years.

Also, look at their up and coming coach, then check out the buffoons who coaced the Bills during the last 4 years. Even Marty's kid wouldn't come here, which was telling and sad indeed.

Here's to hoping that Buddy and Chan will do things right for this team, and most of all for us, the loyal fans.
