major Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I still have hope for Nic Harris - LB. Do you think he will do well in the 3-4?
H2o Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I think Harris would be fine in coverage, but I don't know if he can put on and keep on the needed bulk to play OLB in the 3-4.
High Mark Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I think he could be a decent OLB. That would allow him to play more in space which I think will benifit him. Asking him to play inside I think he could get manhandled by blockers. He plays strong and fast so he may provide a good pass rush. He cant be any worse than Maybin in that regard, and we know he takes better angles in run support and is better in coverage. It may not be such a long shot, after all his competition is Maybin, Ellison, Kelsay, Ellis, and (maybe) Schobel
Alphadawg7 Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I am one that thinks he could do well and think we will see his PT increase this year
Leonidas Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 These are the same people that said the same thing about Alvin Bowen. Where's he these days??
Cash Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I would think Harris would be an ILB, not an OLB. Dunno if he can play in our system or not. Since no one really knows exactly what the system is, I don't think anyone else knows for sure yet either.

Bill from NYC Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 He certainly is a player that one would root for given his background. The thing is, he might be another undersized "Jauron Special." He was a safety in college, so expecting him to be a strong NFL linebacker would appear to be a huge reach. It will take a long time to undo the damage inflicted upon us by Levy/Jauron.
JPS Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I don't think we're planning our draft around Nic Harris either way.

DrDawkinstein Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 ive liked Nic Harris since his college days. love the attitude he brings onto the field. would hope we can find a spot for him, i think he could do very well in the right situation.
colin Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 if we do a "big nickle" package where we drop an LB and add a safety he could be really good. mc's at corner whitner, scott, harris at safety (or whitner/scott byrd and harris) poz aaron and mayin at LB stroud williams johnson/kelsey/mccargo on the line. on like 3rd and 7 that could stop draws form getting first downs (god i hope we solve that problem) but also provide some good coverage and allow for some interesting blitzing. schoble and maybin on the edge should be very hard for teams to match up on.
CardinalScotts Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 It's just interesting to see what coaches who KNOW what they are doing using the strengths of our players to our advantage. This hasn't happened in 12 years.
Green Lightning Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I don't think we're planning our draft around Nic Harris either way. This sums it up nicely. But the kid is a football player and plays with speed & likes to hit. I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the field opening day.
