billsfanmiami(oh)
Ok... Let me preface the reason for this thread. It's Sat night, wife is out of town, Sabres get a big win, and I'm drinking alone flipping channels and surfin the net. So comedy central is playing one of his stand up specials from Madison Square Garden last year. I'm 26 and graduated from undergrad in 06 so from what I gather I'm still close to being in this guy's "target audience". I've seen a little bit of his stuff here and there and all I want to know is how the hell does anyone find this guy funny!? He is absolutely horrible. I haven't even cracked a smile. It's scary that so much of the population can "believe" in something just because it's what they're "supposed" to do. Seriously during this crap, he's going through his routine and a few thousand people are laughing and screaming before he even makes a punchline! ....terrible
Chilly
Agreed. Dane Cook is one of the worst "comedians" I've ever seen.

I used to like him about 5-6 years ago (15-16 yrs old) but when I've watched him lately he's been terrible. I happened to be watching the exact same thing you were last night, it definitely sucked. My teenage daughter used to rave about the guy until I showed her some YouTube clips of Carlin, Pryor, etc.

Steely Dan
Calling Dane Cook a clown is an insult to clowns. I saw him once on TV and could not believe how horrible he is. Overrated doesn't even start to describe him. This is 2:01 but it seems a lot longer. This is a good example of his utter lameness. Foul language; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAn7RpSBtyE This is funny; That's funny. I used to like him about 5-6 years ago (15-16 yrs old) but when I've watched him lately he's been terrible. ACor58
The funniest thing about Dane Cook is that his brother stole a bunch of money from him. I think that is hilarious.

SageAgainstTheMachine
On a scale of Carlos Mencia to 10, Cook is a 3. He's not as miserably unfunny as some people claim, but he's definitely more of a performer than a genuine comedian. His spastic style fits the instant gratification model of entertainment that seems to be preferred these days.
Just Jack
His spastic style fits the instant gratification model of entertainment that seems to be preferred these days. And that's the problem with todays comedians. People are expecting a quick laugh every 30 seconds. The older, better comedians, like , , Eddie Murphy, etc, could take 5 minutes setting up a scene, then hit you with the hilarious finish.

billsfan89
I watched one of Cooks older Comedy Central specials and thought it was enjoyable (Nothing more then average nowhere near the greats) but his newer stuff is just bad. Its like Cook preforms unfunny jokes in a really enthusiastic manner and somehow the energy of his performance makes people forget the rather low quality of his jokes.
