Similar situation happened to me. I fell asleep on a NJ Transit train from NYC bound for Trenton and was awoken by a guy in the NJ Transit train yard in Norristown, PA. I was kinda f'ed.

I hear about the story on NPR this morning. I had to laugh because it sounds like something my wife could do. When she goes out on an airplane it is a near death experience for her.

Maybe they tried to wake 'em up and couldn't and said: "Eff it!" and went home.

Working the graveyard shifts... I have known some people @ work that you just can't wake up... I ended up locking tows all by myself. Usually those types of personalities get all huffy when they find out what happened... I stop short of saying: "Look douchebag, I am not your mother or the snooze button." :wallbash:0:)

Passing out drunk on the late train home from NYC doesn't count.
