MattyT Posted April 7, 2010 Share Posted April 7, 2010 Someone posted an evaluation of the 2008 draft before last year's draft and I thought it was a great service to all of us who tend to take these things too seriously. So I went back and dug up an evaluation of the "draft gurus" picks last year and here you go.... Mock Drafts Suck I read them as much as the next guy (well maybe not as much) but let's keep in mind that even the "best" only get about a quarter of the picks right despite all the effort that they put into it and most of the correct ones are the easier picks in the top 5. I gotta give it up for Peter King because he's a fluff writer, he doesn't claim to be a draft expert. It would be interesting to see how top NFL front offices are at mocking the draft. BuffaloWings Posted April 7, 2010 Share Posted April 7, 2010 I'm starting to think a lot of the teams are picking players just to go against what Kiper, McShay, et al are predicting. Seriously, I rarely read mock drafts anymore. It's like watching a trailer for a porn movie that doesn't show anything - a big tease and you'd rather wait for the real thing. And I kind of like that. At least Jauron, Guy & co. aren't running the show. I have much more confidence in this group to do the right thing. And please just forget about anything after the first round. Thanks, that was interesting. In all of my Bills mock drafts I haven't gotten a single one right. I like the idea of getting credit for a team taking a player even if it's not the place they thought they'd take them. I'd like to see how these guys did in predicting the rounds each player would be taken in too. The professional draftniks seem to spend more time on the players and almost no time studying the teams.
