Beerball Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 ....and if the Bills take Tebow and the team starts winning when he plays.....? Just askin'..... He's playing QB? then you can call me a nincompoopninnyheadedstupidass. & I'll set up my signature to something of your liking and keep it for 12 months.
Thurman#1 Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 No one has any idea? Disagree. It is clearly not a pure crapshoot. It is a science and due diligence exercise. Brady, Rommo and Warner are clear exceptions. Not to say that picking a college QB is without risk, as we all know it is risky. But someone was always right. There were plenty of pundits who favoured Manning over Leaf. That's what happens in a crapshoot. Some get it right and some get it wrong. For those with years and years in the business, it may not be a complete crapshoot, but ask them and they'll tell you that they make mistakes too, and lots of them. The idea is simply to make fewer mistakes than the next guy. For us, though, it really is fairly close to a crapshoot, with the only thing we can be fairly sure of being that the higher they get picked, the higher their chances of success, but that even the highest don't get much above, say, 50 : 50.
dave mcbride Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 And both could be smoke screens. Not saying they are, just that this kind of thing is completely unreliable. Actually, the Bills have never been one of those teams that out and out lies. Never in recent years. Maybin, Lynch, McKelvin -- the Bills never shot those ideas down, and many draftniks saw them as reasonably possible picks for the Bills. I'm starting to think that they're not gonna take Clausen even if he isn't there.
Joaquin1119 Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 i dont want Clausen in buffalo sorry, I say we draft a LT and then the second round draft a QB

There were plenty of pundits who favoured Manning over Leaf. Hasselback and Bulger before they got broken, Brees in the 2nd and then drafting a QB in the 1st to replace him, Brett Farve in the 2nd and trading him after a year, etc. There are a ton of examples. IMO, Qb is the biggest crapshoot in the draft. There so many things that go into being a great QB that can't be measured (leadership, calmness under pressure, ability to avoid big hits, etc.) Clausen definitely has some abilities but there are a lot of questions about the guy as evidence by Shanahan, Holmgrem, and Carroll (who went directly against him) choosing other options.

And this is a new front office. The media has had no clues about the new hirings this year and players coming into town until the day of.
Rockinon Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 The Bill's FO has been keeping their opinions to themselves as they should. All of the crap speculation is........well, crap.
PDaDdy Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 if those bastards pass on Clausen and take timtebow they are officially dead to me n dead Hey we passed up on Orakpo, the consensus #1 DE in the draft, to get Maybin. It's not like we haven't done something that stupid in the recent past.

Wish I knew what those questions are. If all we are talking about are the personality issues, personally I would discount them because none of the claims have been positively substantiated (the clearest indication that they are not true). In terms of his physical skills, what is lacking?

I am not trying to be a d-bag I just have never heard of him here or what info he has shared.

If I remember correctly, he said Bradford is the only quarterback the Bills deem worthy of a first round pick and CJ Spiller is a possibility at our #9 pick.

His credibility is based on the fact that he posted on here that Nix would be announced as the new GM of the Bills a few hours before it came out in the media. Last week he posted that he's hearing Buffalo would not take Clausen.
Maddog69 Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 They have played one year. That's plenty of time to judge a career. Many of the experts on TBD can identify a bust long before they are even drafted. Most of the time they don't even have to have seen the guy play. It's a pretty impressive skill.
JPS Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 They have played one year. Well...one of them played. (sorry)
John from Riverside Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 I give much respect to Nevergiveup who is well documented for being right on these things.... I just wonder if this isn't intentional missinformation. The Bills would do that for a multitude of reasons including trying to keep teams below us from trading up ahead of us to get Clausen. If other teams think we are not going to draft him....they would be more apt to wait and see how much they DONT have to give away in draft compensation in order to get him. My gut tells me we are going to pick him if certain OT's are no longer on the board.

Also told us about 12 hours before any other media outlet that Chan Gailey would probably be our HC.

BUFFALOTONE Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 If I remember correctly, he said Bradford is the only quarterback the Bills deem worthy of a first round pick and CJ Spiller is a possibility at our #9 pick. A lot of people said this. There is no inside scoop needed for this gem.
