Can anyone tell me what the word fassal (not sure on the spelling Its pronounced like Jim Fassel except with an al sound at the end) I have an annoying friend who hears a word that makes him sound smart and then runs it to the ground. I think its either not a word or he is misusing it. I looked it up in the dictionary but it doesn't seem to be there at all. Either I am not spelling it right or its not a word.

Whats the context? Sounds like a corruption of fossil.

That's a fassal argument or something to that extent. I even find myself using it from time to time

Sounds like a spinoff of "fallacy" to me. Don't think it's a word, though.

It means crap. Sometimes you'll hear snooty scientists call it "fassal matter".

Maybe "facile"?

That sounds right.

Main Entry: fac·ile

Pronunciation: \ˈfa-səl\

Function: adjective

Etymology: Middle French, from Latin facilis, from facere to do — more at do

Date: 15th century

(2) : shallow, simplistic <I am not concerned…with offering any facile solution for so complex a problem — T. S. Eliot> b : used or comprehended with ease c : readily manifested and often lacking sincerity or depth <facile tears>

Don't you mean fecal?

Not that it matters.

Fecal means unpredictable, weird or uncontrolable. Think of the phrase "The fecal finger of fate".
