Obama's no more a fan of the White Sox than you or me. I heard him interviewed by the guys calling the game. After telling them he's an "old South Side boy" who loves the blue collar nature of the Sox, they asked him "Who was your favorite White Sox player," and he went completely dead. He couldn't even fake an answer. He was so stumped by the question, you'd have thought it was asked by Sarah Palin. Once he recovered with a couple of "Well, look..." he started yapping about how he was actually from Hawaii and used to follow the As, and then he moved to Chicago, and then he mumbled something about the old Comisky Field...and as soon as he mentioned Comisky, the baseball guys all mumbled with nostalgia like old Bills fans reminiscing about the Rockpile.

 

"Yes, yes....Comisky...yes."

 

I'll find it when I have more time, but he's completely faking it. I've seen 1980s porn where chicks actually fake their enjoyment of sex better than he can fake his White Sox fandom.

 

And look, I don't care if he's a fan or not. But you simply can not fake being a fan these days. You can't. And that's what he's trying to do.

 

I remember a Dennis Miller interview when it was announced he was going to be in the booth for MNF. I'm a huge Miller fan, so I was surprised during some softball NFL interview when he was asked "So you must be a huge football fan, and this has to be a dream come true for you," and to my disappointment, he responded, "Not really. I like football. But this is just another gig to me. I'll try it. It'll work or it won't work, and then I'll move on to the next gig." Hated the answer. Loved the honesty.

 

I suspect Obama decided to be a White Sox fan because it helped him politically at the time (without thinking it through,) and now he has to keep it up once a year after throwing a Mary pitch every opening day.

 

Yes. He no doubt is a bandwagon fan. Of all people taking him to task, you. He is excactly the same as you if the Bills moved to LA... Most if not all real BFLO Bills fans would never root for the Bills if they moved to LA. I was a Braves growing up. Does that mean I a Clippers fan? No. I actually hope they burn in enternity and never have a winning season.

Man, I'm having a hard time understanding your logic as it relates to this discussion. It seems what you're saying is that there are varying degrees of fandom, from the rabid face-painting, flag-waving, cheesehead-wearing, never-ever-miss-a-game fan to the check-the-standings-in-the-sports-section-while-taking-a-dump fan. Under those circumstances, yes, he's a fan, much like I'm sure you're a fan of retirement accounts because you checked on the DOW this morning.

 

The reality is, virtually a week can not go by without this guy doing or saying something that proves he is all fake, no substance. And when you wear a White Sox hat to a Nationals game when you know all the cameras are on you, and you can't even name a favorite player from the White Sox, you look even more ridiculous then you did the day before. And believe em...with a 44% approval rating of late, you'd think the last thing he'd want to do is look even more ridiculous.

 

And if you still don't understand what I'm saying, at least understand this: it's not "another words," it's "in other words."

Yes, they booed President Obama at Nationals Park on Monday. And he deserved it.

 

To be precise, there were two waves of boos. The first came when he walked out of the dugout and onto the field to throw out the Opening Day first pitch; those unsportsmanlike boos undoubtedly came from agitators in the crowd sympathetic to the visiting Philadelphia Phillies, while the well-behaved and long-suffering Nats fans, the Silent Majority, applauded respectfully.

 

But then, as Obama took the mound wearing a red Nationals jacket, he made a costly error. He whipped from his glove a folded Chicago White Sox cap, shook it open and put the traitorous garment on his head. This time the boos came from Nats fans, too.
