Surprised they do that since if you don't pay your tax's it might put their collateral in jeopardy of a tax auction. I thought of it because I know someone in your situation. When he was married the house payment was no big deal, then they got divorced she moved out and now he's making the payment on his income only. Calls the bank and asks if they can lower his monthly payment. They did, but he never asked HOW they did it.
