LeviF Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I have never smoked a cigarette, cigar, pipe or weed. I guess because my grandmother lived with us and she was a heavy smoker, so I was around cigarette smoke a lot when I was a kid. I do'nt mean to change subjects, but I wanted to pose this question to you all. We all know that smoking can be bad for your health. There are many people out there that do a lot to discourage smoking cigarettes. Yet when it comes to marijuana, a lot of people are clamoring for it to be legalized. So my question is, what is the difference? Why do so many people discourage smoking tobacco, and not marijuana? I think a lot of people look at it as hypocrisy. Cigarettes are much more hazardous to your health (as in they pose a much higher risk of causing cancer and other health issues) than MJ. On the flip side, MJ has a much greater impact on one's mental acuity than tobacco/cigarettes.
Delete This Account Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Did for too many years to count (30+). Haven't for the past 2 months. quitter! jw

NyQuil Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Another thought. I work in a hospital and the number of health professional that smoke is staggering.
Steely Dan Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Another thought. I work in a hospital and the number of health professional that smoke is staggering. I did too and I agree. The it will never happen to me frame of mind is a tough nut to crack.
Pine Barrens Mafia Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Smoked my first at age 13. Smoked my last at age 36. Better late than never.
rockpile Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I smoke maybe three or four cigars a year. I had a pack-a-day plus addiction for 30 years. Have not had a cigarette since 1994, and ran a 10K in 1996! Just to say I could!
rockpile Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I quit 6 weeks ago. I still miss it-badly. The more smokeless weeks you log, the less you will miss it. I promise.
