Bad Lieutenant
If this keeps I wouldn't be surprised if the Russians start waterboarding suspected terrorists within the next, oh I don't know, 30-90 days. Amirite folks?

Nanker
They will do what they want with them. Of course the terrorists in Russia have Constitutional rights, but they'll be trampled upon. They're probably right-wing Christians anyway - you know - the worst kind of human scum. The US won't formally protest, nor will the UN, nor Rosie O'Donnell for that matter. Don't look for Madame Hillary to issue a proclamation about it either.

George
Because we are supposed to be better than that. It is our scrutiny (the media) that prevents our government from acting like others. All too true. In Russia, as in virtually all countries outside of the good old USA, the media reports what they are told to report by the propiganda arm of the government. The Russian Government approves what the "journalists" of Pravda write. Here, while the major news networks are approaching "Pravda Status," thankfully, we have Fox News which presents the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, dispite the gnashing and wailing of the liberal left and the propagandists of the current administration. Oh. Dear. Don't get out much do you? Most of Europe has fair and free press. (Excluding Russia, Italy (where the president literally owns most of the media) and some of the ex-Soviet republics). Last time I checks Oz and NZ had pretty good press too. S Africa has had a tradition of press that criticised the govt, even in the Apartheid era. Indian press is not too shabby either (the congress party largely lost its automatic right to national govt thanks to press coverage of number of scandals). If you're talking about the London Tabloids, then I'll have to agree with you. But other than them the rest of the European Press is nothing more than mouthpieces for the socialistic governments they serve. Oz and NZ are largely conservative, so their press has the freedom to report honestly. I heard that most of the Indian Press has been out-sourced. OCinBuffalo
Ahhh, as if we need anymore proof of just how little leftists understand how the real world actually is. Or, as if we need more proof of the mental affectation being a "morally superior" leftist requires. Apparently mop-boy needs a lesson in reality. I have one word for you: Spetnaz. And you are talking about waterboarding? Spetnaz have tortured, raped, and mangled thousands of people, and I am only talking about the ones that are still on active duty. These are the guys that routinely put the evil in The Evil Empire and continue that practice to this day....and you think...they are going to use...water? The terrorists they don't electrocute, hang, bleed out, and bury alive, are going home....minus one or more body parts, if not carrying their junk in a jar....but you are asking about...water? Pathetic. And...childish. Perhaps its not your fault, you just lack wisdom, and apparently the desire to attain it. A final question: in terms of barbaric torture practices, Spetnaz is only rivaled by the Mongols, Romans, Vlad The Impaler, etc. But...what ideology spawned them? Why is it therefore necessary to resist that ideology anywhere and every time it appears? Answer: because when you start believing that that's its a good idea to artificially enforce economic equality on people who inherently aren't economically equal, by definition you lower the value of all people artificially. Once the value of people has been lowered enough, things like the Spetnaz become easy to not only tolerate, but condone. And then, once this stupid ideology inevitably implodes, Spetnaz becomes necessary in order to continue to enforce the artificial equality. But, then again, we are talking about mop-boy here...so 5-1 this last part, or, maybe this entire post, is going right over his head.
