Mrs. Lew and I are in Lewiston for Easter weekend.

Got in the rush hour (Thursday) around Buffalo and

I-290 Youngman Highway. Living in WV has spoiled

me about driving as 7 cars means a lot of traffic.

Had an issue with the car. The engine temperature

gauge rose from the middle to HOT and we had to get to a service station.

Fortunately this happened near Morgantown and now

the car (98 Avalon) is at the Toyota dealership

awaiting repairs. An Enterprise rental place was across the street,

so now a 2010 Impala will be our means of transporting

around WNY ...Headed to Violas and maybe Pizza Junction.

Happy Easter and GO 'Eeeers !!!!

Good luck with the car! Exactly how fast was it going when it overheated? Sorry-had to get the Toyota joke in. HAPPY EASTER!

HA...

we were just going the speed limit on I-79 (70 mph)

and I noticed the gauge climb from its normal

middle temperature position the the ORANGE warning

level. My car knowledge is average at best

but I KNOW that when that gauge gets

'pegged' it's 'bad things, man'...

The dealership just called and I need a new radiator.

This one only has 213,000 miles on it.

Nice, I bought my wife an 03 Avalon and she loves it. Don't care what anyone says Toyota makes a great car. Once you drive one you'll never stop

213000 on one radiator is pretty good, hopefully the dealer doesn't ding you too much on the price.

Hope you have a great weekend home, we've got some beautiful weather ahead of us

Got back to WV on Tuesday night.

The Toyota dealership in Morgantown did not get the

new radiator on Monday, as they promised.

So we stayed an extra day in Lewiston.

So the plan was to drive the rental car back to Morgantown on Wed,

pick up my Avalon (Mrs. Lew's actually) and return the rental car.

I left S WV around 9AM and planned to arrive in Morgantown around noon.

I called ahead , 'just to make sure'

When I arrived the dealership told me they had the wrong radiator

and called around the Morgantown area to get a replacement.

It would be ready by 3:30--4:00.

At 4 the cell phone rang and they said the car was ready.

I dropped off the rental and picked up the Avalon.

After driving 20 miles the temp gauge started to fluctuate between the middle indicator

and 90% Hot...I got gas half way ...The fluctuating stopped

and now the gauge is between 80 and 90% hot

but not in the orange warning area.

When I got to my driveway, the resevoir tank was boiling and spilled on the driveway.

I called a local auto shop and the car is there now

getting a new thermostat or water pump...

It seems crazy to dump all this $$ repairing the car, but it is a great car

and I like not having a loan...Even though these repairs seem

like making a car payment,,,....

Needless to say I am ticked at the Morgantown Toyota place

and will give them a call after the local guy fixes what they did not.
