VOLUNTARY. He won't win his job back in shorts. All that matters is when the pads get put on.

If you had a new boss and he set up a "voluntary" event you would make damn sure you were there right? And if attendance was at 97% what would you and your co-workers think of someone who was a no show and had no good reason for it? And what if that missing co-worker just came off his worst year with the company where he was undisciplined off the field and unprepared on the field. Marshawn clearly doesn't "get it".

Dean, Gailey did mention that Nix had talked to Lynch. But why would you assume that Lynch called Nix? Isn't it just as likely if not more likely that Nix called Lynch?

Like Tom Brady and Trent Edwards? Stupid comment...sorry.

You're acting as if Lynch didn't plead guilty to a misdemeanor weapons charge just one year ago.

And that the year before he was involved in a hit and run incident for which he also pleaded guilty and narrowly escaped criminal charges.

Or the allegations from 4 months ago by the wife of a Buffalo Policeman.

Or the fact that there has been a regime change in Buffalo and that he is the most notable veteran to not show up for workouts, in spite of the fact that the team invested a first round pick in him and that the new coach has said that he thinks Lynch is an excellent football player and that he wants Lynch to be a big part of the football team.

As I posted yesterday,

"The big story will be Marshawn Lynch's arrival. From all the comments from Gailey and Nix, they are talking him up and want him to be here. BUT, I also remember reading something very recently that implied that Lynch had not been in touch with the team. In the wake of all of his bad publicity, I wouldn't be surprised if Lynch doesn't want to play in Buffalo anymore. I will be very interested to see if Lynch comes in on day one."

This might be Lynch's little one-day protest to put the team on notice that he wants out. He may show up today or for some of the workouts. But how many free passes does this guy get from some of you?

I'm pretty non-judgemental and tend to give people the benefit of the doubt but with Marshawn Lynch? This latest act shows his lack of professionalism, his indifference to his fans and supporters, and IMO cannot just be shrugged off.

In view of Lynch's very lousy track record to date, what activities does Lynch have that are more important than showing his bosses, teammates, and fans that he actually gives a schit about being a professional football player and that he is actually committed to his team, his profession, and his supporters?

Good Post!

Maybe they are talking him up because they want to get as close to full value for him in a trade. I just can't see not showing up for this workout after missing 3 games due to a suspension last year. He let his team down big time last year. You would think he would be the first one here after that. Maybe he has a really good reason not to be here. If not, is there any wonder the Bills are entertaining the idea of drafting Spiller?

I disagree.......

A new HC...new Asst Coaches....new philosphy

This is where the leaders of this team need to step up and show LEADERSHIP......its a young team with not a lot of star power...the known guys have to set the example as we dont have a big name coach to do it for us.....

I LOVE what this new staff is doing. And I unless Marshawn has a reason for not being here I really want him outa here......

+1

This is the first chance for the team to meet and get to know the new coaching staff. I believe the whole team should be there

I think Gailey is saying that he hasn't talked to him since he was hired as head coach. (which is sad)

Maybe thats a sign that he is ready to make a change? Heck, if we can draft a player that even comes close to Sproles I would have no problem with getting rid of Lynch or watching him sit on the bench. Playing time should be awarded to those who put in the time and effort and set good examples. I know that sometimes that doesnt translate to the best player being played but hey in our case it does (Fred Jackson)

So do we officially hate Lynch now?

Not officially but he has a lot to prove don't you agree? He did lose his starting job to a Division 111 product. Narshawn is not exactly on his way to the hall of fame.

You raise an interesting scenario. If CA makes pot legal, can the NFL still suspend players there for smoking?

PTR

Thats an entirely different thread cause this conversation could get out of hand.

To answer your question....YES!

You work for a company and the company has rights over those rules. That and Im not sure where they would win in court by saying the NFL offices are located New York, NY.

Just think of it this way. Its not illegal to be on this website, or porn site, or any other site for that matter. However if some of the people on here were caught by their bosses on here they would be fired in a heartbeat.

If my new boss had an INvoluntary event I would make sure I was there. Maybe that is just cause I want to kiss some butt and get in the good graces.

I was hoping to see a new Lynch this year, but he is not starting off so hot.

Maybe instead of bringing in financial advisors and league veterans to help immature guys like Marshawn, the Bills should bring in a guy like Travis Henry or Ray Buchanon or Nate Newton (when he gets out of the clink) and have them talk to the fools who either dont understand how short the typical NFL career really is, or don't grasp how low their earning potential is when they're out of the league in a few years.

I think Gailey is going to make Marshawn his pet project (next to QB obviously). Its naive to think Freddy can carry the team for 17 weeks on his own, and unless they get another solid RB on draft day we need the Beast for a dozen touches per game this year.

Great post SJBF

If Lynch really cared, or had the drive to be on a winning team he would work at it. Be the first to show up and the last to leave right?!? Ok, so maybe thats a little much. Either way, he lost his starting job last year, he is younger, and COULD be more talanted than Jackson, he should want to show up and prove himself as a team player and that hes committed to this team.

Right now hes showing he either wants to be traded or he just doesnt care. Baring a death/funeral in his family there is nothing more important for him to be here right now.

I hope we can trade Lynch and a 3rd or something for McNabb.

I wouldn't attempt to guess who called whom. But my point was, the title of the thread says "No call, no show". I don't see anything that states Lynch didn't call. The only thing I see in that regard is that Lynch has talked to the GM but not the coach.

I'm not defending Marshawn here, IMO he should attend the workouts. But there is a difference between a player who is MIA and one that simply isn't attending the workout. "No call, no show"suggests a MIA-type situation, at least to me that is.

So, while I agree with most of the criticism, I'm just not sure that particular punch was clean.

Whereas this is true, for a high profile guy whose performance last year greatly resembled a pile of excrement and lost him his starting job, I would think he'd be eager to work his way back to the lime light. The fact that he's got better things to do is disturbing from a football standpoint as it makes you wonder where his priorities lie.

I really had high hopes (no pun intended) for Lynch...he's crazy and I like that about him...beast mode...ghost riding carts all over the place...just having fun...I liked that about him...but I mean that's not enough of course...I'd like to see him stop dancing for a minute and run...he looked more tentative than Trent in the backfield this season...and slower to...now he's missing a chance to get back to Buffalo and transition??? ehhhh...at least we got F Jack...I hope Lynch worked hard this offseason is all I can say...shed a few pounds and got his focus back...but I'm VERY skeptical...and MUCH more in favor of the idea of bringing another RB in...even though I said earlier I'd throw my TV out the window...I'm sick of these punk players not wanting to be a part of the Buffalo Bills...if you don't like it...GET OUT...I want to see players on the field with some damn pride...these ridiculous idiots need to read into Jackson's humility, pride, and work ethic...or Wood or Levitre or Poz or or or...you know what I'm saying...I don't mind attitudes...I even like them...but follow it up with some heart and work ethic...PLEASE...I loved T.O. but he puts in work to dance around and act a fool...

You're right Dean. Forgive me for my speculation. I could try to justify it by saying he didn't call Gailey, but it doesn't matter and it would be fruitless. Either way, I wish he were at the "voluntary" workouts with everyone else.

I didn't like when Peters held out a couple years ago with no communication. What player was it that said he was in contact with Peters but felt the situation was between Peters & the team? I thought that was BS and the "leaders" of the team should've told him to get his butt in camp.

So, he ends up reporting after the season started and prety much had a wasted season.

Maybe he's holding out for a new contract?

But seriously, I think the fact he spoke with Nix and not Gailey suggest that Buddy has told Marshawn he'll do his best to trade him.
