The person who posted the initial comment had some points. I wasn't as aggravated as he was, but there's no reason someone can't voice an opinion on his "article" just like everyone voices their opinion on someone like Mort's jab at Buffalo.

Weak.

JW's a big boy, he can see constructive criticism.

I deleted it myself, I was not aware that the article was intended to be a "teaser" and would be supplemented later.

... which probably means that this thread should itself be deleted.

Oh, that makes sense. Even at that though, what's the point of a teaser? Did there really need to be a teaser about the Bills backup QB who spoke to the press today? It's already posted on BB.com. Another longer article could have already been posted by now.

I'm not sure how sound a decision it is to constantly hurry up and put something out there (this doesn't necessarily pertain to only JW), especially in this case. In the long run, if people don't know it's a teaser, they'll quit reading your stuff, because they think nothing will really ever be in there.

I thought you had a valid point, although I didn't read the article until after you said something.

I agree with your points, but I didn't want to start a mob directed at Mr. Warrow (especially since my thread was based on an incorrect assumption), so I went ahead and removed it.

It has to do with how wire service stories are disseminated. Their stories get picked up by other news organizations, so they need to file teasers first and then fill in more detail. Just the nature of the 24/7 news business.

Correct, I understand that. And JW didn't do anything wrong at all. But, is it really needed for a Bills backup QB? A longer story could already be done, and he would still be the first one to report it.

It's not JW, it's just media reporting in general these days.....ugh.

I'm genuinely curious: how long does it take you to transcribe 10 minutes of audio?

Right now, he's the backup and the starter, along with the other two. I believe he's also the only one to addres the media. So I'm guesing Gailey penciled him as the front runner.

Not sure, but I would think a story could be written in three hours. I mean, I can do much much more at my job in three hours, than write a story on trent Edwards speaking for nine minutes. And yes, I worked for the Pittsburgh Trib Review growing up. Mostly agate, never wrote anything, but cmon.

what did i do, now?

note: am working on longer piece on Edwards, which got pushed back by second-round of interviews and an update on Eric Wood, which i just finished filing a light version and longer version.

While other interviews and press conferences were going on?

Media will be allowed to shoot b-roll of workouts in the Fieldhouse from approximately 8:00-9:30 AM and 11:30 AM-1:00 PM. Selected players will be made available to the media by the Media Relations staff at various times throughout the availability sessions in the Fieldhouse and Head Coach Chan Gailey will address the media at 1:00 PM.

If you plan on covering the early morning session, please report to the Buffalo Bills Media Room in the Administrative Building by 7:45 AM. For the second session, please report to the Media Room by 11:15 AM and you will be escorted into the Fieldhouse.

Just a misunderstanding on the flash/writethrough idea.

John, you're out of your league here. The guy stood around and watched other people write at the Pittsburgh Trib Review. He's clearly qualified to criticize your ability.
