best place to book international flight?

My friend is trying to get to Germany for a wedding in July and we can't find fare for under $1000. She can fly out of Boston, JFK, or Newark. Any cheap flight to Europe would work and then take Ryan Air. $1000 seems outrageous. Almost twice what I have paid in the past

Where in Germany do they need to fly into? Need that info in order to look and see. (Have a friend with Delta who usually steers me in the right direction, but it is all about departure and arrival city). Also specific dates.

Part of the problem is the timing. July is peak season for travel to Europe, I think fares tend to rise sigificantly once summer starts.

 

There's always priceline if you can be flexible in the timing/route, etc.

Try travelocity and expedia. It's kind of early for the summer specials though. There is such a thing as buying too soon.
