Fezmid Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 I've been interested in photography for many years, and just recently signed up for a "photography bootcamp." It's been every week for 3-6 hours. It's been pretty awesome learning the ins and outs of photography. Today was the day I had to do my own photo shoot, and the instructor would simply be my assistant, moving lights and such. I had to pick a topic, so I picked "zombies," because who doesn't like a good zombie story? We brought in a very good make-up artist for the model, and since the second model bailed, she helped me out by being in the shoot as well (she's the one with the baseball bat). I haven't done much editing on these yet (still debating what white balance I like -- slight blue tinge? Or more natural?), and some of the shots need a bit more work - but it's the rough draft (literally done 45 minutes of editing, that's it). Here's the link to my Flickr account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/43777639@N06/...57623722581118/ Click on the first picture of the zombie -- I wish that was the highlight picture, but I can't figure out how to make that work... We did the whole shoot in about 45 minutes (excluding the hour or so of makeup). It was a lot of fun!! Comments and critiques welcome! I'm always looking to improve.
The Dean Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Can't give you much of a critique, as I am no expert on photography or zombies, but I thought they were very good. Interesting lighting, good creepy feel and a terrifically horrid zombie babe. I'm guessing with a little editing they will be fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
John Adams Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 I watched Zombieland last night so I'm in a Zombie mood. Like 'em.

I definitely am not a photography expert either, but I do consider myself a zombie connoisseur. A zombie snob, if you will. And those, my friend, are some excellent zombie pictures.

I do wonder though why you chose to take a beautiful model and then make her ugly for your shoot. Were porno pics out of the question?
DC Tom Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 I very much like your use of the lighting. I'm not sure why you paid for a model and makeup artist, though, when you could have simply bought AiO a couple of twelve-packs... (Yeah...I'm a !@#$ing dead man.)
Fezmid Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 Thanks for the comments, guys. Apparently I did better than I thought -- the zombie model posted one of the pictures on her site, and some of the comments there have been very flattering. Another model actually made this post: "How can I be involved in this...or other upcoming projects?" And then the zombie model said this in response to me saying I was nervous about the shoot: "you had no reason to be nervous!! Ive never seen a photographer pull stuff like this out in less than 15 mins! wtg!" Pretty high praise from a professional. Time to ditch the IT job and go into the low paying job of photography.

A quick trip across the Peace Bridge could have netted a proverbial zombie bonanza.

PromoTheRobot Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 How did you get the zombies to sit still long enough? Zombie snacks? PTR
DC Tom Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 How did you get the zombies to sit still long enough? Passing drills with Drew Bledsoe.

Marv's Neighbor Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Should have made your Model sit thru hi-lights of the BILLS from the last 10 years. That would bring out the real Zombie in most people!
