I live in the middle of where it started and many of them are still around today. But in the 60's the preached anti-establishment, down with the man, stay out of their business, self reliance, taking care of each other, hate for even their parents because they were looked at as authoritarian figures. Now they seem to be just the opposite. We need big government, the man, to take care of us and control every aspect of our life. Then they lived and worked a few more years and after decades of personal failure discovered it was their own incompetence and lack of useful skills and personal drive that was keeping them down.
