Chef Jim Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 The hippies of the '60s have transformed into the liberals we have today. I live in the middle of where it started and many of them are still around today. But in the 60's the preached anti-establishment, down with the man, stay out of their business, self reliance, taking care of each other, hate for even their parents because they were looked at as authoritarian figures. Now they seem to be just the opposite. We need big government, the man, to take care of us and control every aspect of our life. Many of their ideals in the 60's are more in line with the Conservative or more closely Libertarian movements. What happened?

Then they lived and worked a few more years and after decades of personal failure discovered it was their own incompetence and lack of useful skills and personal drive that was keeping them down. So now they've decided they need the "Man" to help them out. Damn hippies.

What happened? “Not to be a socialist at twenty is proof of want of heart; to be one at thirty is proof of want of head.” — French Premier Georges Clemenceau (1841-1929) Though I have to admit I was disappointed when I found out Dennis Hopper had become a conservative.

Geez. I don't have much time left to grow a heart.
