I no longer have to worry about my 7 year old (cerebral palsy) being denied Health insurance for a pre-existing condition.

There is no longer a cap on the ammount of insurance available to him.

Yes, there are flaws. No one should be mandated to buy insurance, but to those that are screaming that this is communism .... shut the hell up.

Two things (along with lengthening the periods children can be covered) that could have been passed 1000 times in the past 30 years if the electorate cared about real issues instead of buzzword crap like abortion and terrorism.

No, they really shouldn't. This bill is a disaster and it's going to do an amazing amount of damage to our country. The CBO estimates are ridiculous (as they usually are) and the lack of understanding on what the non-specific costs (like the country's credit rating, long term treasuries, etc) are going to screw the middle class big time.

Ok, how about "radical left wing" or "socialisim" or how about plain old "Phoney !@#$s who never had to earn a buck in their lives!" All apply and work for me.

Or how about "the redistribution of wealth to the county's least productive and least appreciative citizens"?

Agreed. It "could have been done". It never was.

no arguement here.

Who are " the county's least productive and least appreciative citizens" that you speak of?

He obviously means your son. Which in his mind makes him a wonderfully compassionate and caring human being. But to everyone else, he's just a douche.

yup. just because he has cerebral palsy doesn't mean you should put your hands in my pocket. Tell him to get a job. Cerebral palsy keep you from working in the coal fields? Lazy commie punk.

The dude is a douche. This bill has an almost obscene amount of faults, but it is going to do a ridiculous amount of good.

No one should be mandated to buy insurance...

Perhaps they won't.

- We don’t have the necessary amount of doctors to see an additional 30 million or so patients. So Rationing of health care on a large scale will take place.

- We don’t have the money to pay for pre-existing conditions, no plan maximums benefits payable, coverage for dependents until age 26, etc.

- Too many young people will not participate. They will only pay the penalty. Then, when they get sick they’ll sign up since pre-existing conditions will be covered. Then when they get well, they’ll drop out again.

- Premiums will go UP. Taxes will go UP! There’s no free lunch!

- It FAILED in Massachusetts.

Mark my words: Future Presidents will curse Obama for opening this huge un-managable COSTLY can of worms.

There isn't any reason it had to be that way.

yeah, I totally agree. But that's the system for you. Nothing ever gets done perfectly (or even half right). The best thing to do is realize half the bill is terrific and half is horrible....and to work on fixing that which is wrong.

Half?

You obviously don't know much about it. And if you don't have the money, time, or patience to do it right the first time you'll NEVER have the resources to fix it. That's reality, regardless of the endeavor.

Your statement is the equivalent of building a house out of **** and trying to patch it a piece at a time over decades. Social Security is a disaster. Medicare/Medicaid are fraught with fraud and waste. DoD wastes copious amounts of money. NOTHING EVER CHANGES. It just gets more expensive.

Ding! Hotpockets are done. <_<

I tried to wrap my brain around this statement, I really did. But this is one of the saddests things I've ever read here.

Oh, look. Another critic who hates helping people. Shut the hell up. <_<

I'm glad to hear that the bill will help Thirdborn's son. To suggest that this irresponsible, damaging bill was the only vehicle to help him, and that being critical of the whole bill amounts to nothing more than being a moron with no compassion, is beyond embarrassing and frustrates people like me to no end....which is likely what these tards want because they know they can't argue the bill on its merits. They somehow, amazingly think it makes sense to say "This bill is horrible, but some good will come of it, so everyone should shut their trap."
