An Honest Process

Nevermind the fact that many people are opposed to the substance of this Health Insurance Bill, that's to be expected, people will agree and disagree but the fact that Democratic Leadership decided to go forward with this in a purely partisan basis with such an important piece of legislation that engulfs such a large portion of the economy, was a complete miscalculation.

But the process, the process in which this bill was passed was deplorable. This will undoubtedly divide the country more so than we have seen in a long time and my guess is that the legislative well has been poisoned for quite some time.

I think this sums up the process of how ObamaCare passes.

When all the details start spilling out about the deals that were cut in the process (and they're already starting to come out), it could be years before this country is able to advance itself.

Fun night to be a liberal. Hope they enjoy it because being a liberal is about to get very, very embarrassing. When you fly this high and fast, the fall is equally swift and unexpectedly painful.

What matters most is winning. They won, doesn't matter how, doesn't matter how the public views this, it's just about winning.

There are no rules, We make them up as we go along.

Not my words.

The people I have talked with about this, have in principal agreed that changes do indeed need to be made to some aspects of the current healthcare and health insurance industries and processes. But none of the people I have talked to would have voted for this particular bill. I talked with Democrats, Republicans and Independents. Their top concerns (in no particular order) were:

  • Too many backroom deals made (SOS)
  • Cost of Healthcare was ultimately going to increase
  • Quality of service was ultimately going to decrease

with the 2nd and 3rd items being mentioned the most. I am concerned that this is a "well intentioned" bill that is ultimately going to get warped and mutated far beyond its original intentions by the 6 words that govern business:

It

all

comes

down

to

money.

Make no mistake about this: The insurance companies have the upper hand here. They are NOT going to allow the government to cut significantly into their profits. They will find loopholes, back doors, side doors, tie things up in court for years or simply shut down that which does not meet their revenue goals.

Wait until 2012 and see how things look.

Anyone here think Big Cat can describe any portion of the bill intelligently?

Well, he did make the comparison of mandating the coverage of auto insurance to that of health insurance.

sooo......

Maybe he's just trying to make the point that none of us should be upset about this bill, because it's a joke...

You could do that, or you could prove him wrong and explain a little bit about this bill that you're so confident about.

Not worth the calories. As I alluded to in another thread just moments ago, the negative Nancies among us (they're out in droves these days) will hone in on the part of the bill they don't like (a part that won't actually affect them) and completely ignore all the incremental progress made from the rest of the bill.

See the thing is, these negative nancies aren't nearly as bad as you make them out to be. They're not yelling at you like a 2002 liberal would a bush supporter. They're asking you questions. And you're refusing to answer them. All of them. In the end it makes the negative nancies look a lot less bad, and the guys laughing in the corner really stupid.

Then I guess I'm the stupidest guy in the room. I'm fine with that.

And you can't explain ANY of the "incremental progress", as you call it. But you still insist that every fact you're presented is wrong, and we're just evil Republicans who hate everyone.

Sad...you were never a truly smart poster, but you never fully embraced your inner retard before now, either.
