ExiledInIllinois
Oh so you got one of thos cushy jobs. I thought so. I am a working stiff... The cushy jobs are the ones who work straight 0800-1600 M-F. No... I work 0800-1600 for two weeks M-F, then off Sa, Sun, and Mon... Work Tue-Sun 0800-1600, off M-T... Work W-Tue 1600-2400... Then off W & Thurs and go into work Thurs/Fri at midnight... Work 0000-0800 from Fri-Thur... Off FRI, SAT, and SUN for my long weekend... Start the whole cycle again! All days... Even Christmas, New years and whatever... Of course I get dicked around when somebody wants leave.

ExiledInIllinois
To me anyone working an 8 hour shift regardless of what days has a cushy job. And to clarify I'm glad I don't have a cushy job. That is what I thought you were getting at. The 8 hours is a "perk"... Sometimes you don't get a break the whole time... Maybe for days or weeks... Now mix in all the times and the weather with the manual labor and the cushyness evaporates... It is still Fed and they try and respect the worker more. It all comes around through... Of course I can do two things at one time and post on the fly almost anytime I want to... Wireless helps even more when you got a big field job site to cover. Safety still takes priority. Shift work does take a toll... Some people can't do it, no matter how easy. I know in 20 years it has probably aged me a lot more... But I love it! There are times I get absolutely no sleep and then I get a bunch... We will see how it goes into my 40's and 50's... Hopefully not past 55, but who knows, they will have my generation working well past 70! Missing Christmas', Thanksgiving's, and 4th of July's with family and friends sucks too... Again, things come around. I like the non-traditional and the "jack of all trades" type of job... Just pay me for 8 hour and I will do anything that is needed. In the age of the specialist, it is refreshing and quite old-school... Saves a ton of money too when it comes to contracts and maintenance/overhead. They are spending (and pissing away) more money on researching and trying to solve the recent problem/boondoogle than they spent to build the place, staff it 24/7/365, and maintain it for the LAST 50 years! I am younger and I see that I am able to cope with all the multi-tasking that has evolved compared to what the old-timers can deal with... Believe it or not, in 20 years a lot has changed in gov't... You would be surprised how stream-lined it has got. I saw a ton of procedural (especially with reagard to "paperwork.") disappear. The sad part is that things are still top heavy with "Chiefs." ExiledInIllinois
read recently where the t-burgers spit at people.is that necessary? jw No. They are bitter and angry. We have become a society that thrives on hero worship and recognition and has become quite selfish. Recent generations have been raised to demand what they should have! IDBillzFan
read recently where the t-burgers spit at people.is that necessary? jw "They" didn't spit at "people." Someone spit at a person. When an admitted hardcore Obama-supporting liberal teacher went into a meeting, whipped out a gun and at point-blank range shot and killed her fellow-teachers because she didn't get her comfy, cozy tenture , did you hear a bunch of conservatives yelling how "the NEA murdered innocent Americans?' Grow the hell up, you idiot. Or at the very least, stop drinking and posting.
