purple haze Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 positive - who does he replace? likely Mitchell? Mitchell played OLB since he's been in BLo. He can play inside, but he played outside. No reason for him to move back inside now. Davis fills a spot at ILB until they draft someone else who can win the job from him.
Adam Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Guys....he is a starter They dont even know if Schrobel is coming back.....Mitchell will end up staying outside with Maybin on the other side I would prefer Maybin OUTSIDE the stadium while the game is going on
Steely Dan Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Mitchell played OLB since he's been in BLo. He can play inside, but he played outside. No reason for him to move back inside now. Davis fills a spot at ILB until they draft someone else who can win the job from him. http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2010/03/16/k...ve-competition/ If free agent visitor Andra Davis ends up getting something done with the Bills, inside linebackers Paul Posluszny and Kawika Mitchell could have some veteran competition. Davis has been an inside LB for all of his time in a 3-4 scheme, mostly on the strong side. He would be some of the stiffest competition those two incumbent backers would face since they’ve been in Buffalo. Of course Davis knows competing with those two linebackers would not be an easy task either. “If it worked out I’d just come here and compete,” he said. ”They’ve got some good backers here already. I bring experience and leadership and I would just come here and compete.” The coaching staff has intimate working knowledge of Davis’ game, since defensive coordinator George Edwards was his linebackers coach in Cleveland in 2004. If he in fact comes to an agreement with the Bills it would be one of the more interesting training camp competitions, but this is what GM Buddy Nix wanted to develop on the roster right away. His motto of competition makes everyone better is evident with this free agent visit. And what they also create is dependable depth, something the LB position has lacked the past few years.
dgrid Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 here's a youtube on Josina Anderson. oh yeah, Andra Davis in there as well...
SawchukBills Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 This made my day for sure! I like to think of this as a well thought out decision since it comes some time after free agency opened. Great move...what's next? Edwards? Does this mean no McClain even if all good OTs and 2 QBs are gone? Who moves outside? Kawika? Our draft seems to be taking shape!
JPS Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 "hoooooweeee. That was the best cracka I ever had".....said the starving Bills fan.
Ramius Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 I love this if for no other reason than it provides competition, and players will actually have to play for their spots. . No more dick moron making Keith Ellison the "starter" and bringing in some UDFAs as "competition".
Mr. ChumChums Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Nothing but good things from Denver fans http://forums.denverbroncos.com/showthread.php?t=164006 Scroll down there and you'll see that some fans wanted to trade him for Whitner!
Tortured Soul Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 I love this if for no other reason than it provides competition, and players will actually have to play for their spots. . No more dick moron making Keith Ellison the "starter" and bringing in some UDFAs as "competition". And it means no longer signing linebackers on Tuesday to start on Sunday (see Chris Draft).
Lori Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Denver Post: Andra Davis lands in Buffalo Both this blog and the ESPN Insider blurb make the point that Davis' experience in the 3-4 was invaluable in teaching the scheme to the rest of the Broncos 'backers last offseason. And you'll love this from Football Outsiders (via ESPN): "Davis actually led all inside/middle linebackers by making his average run tackle after the ballcarrier gained just 2.0 yards. "
Thirty Year Fan Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 This is great news IMO...he is a very underrated LB and is a great addition to a weak spot on this team.100% agree
Philo Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Great news. I'm happy we didn't let this guy get away.
billsfan89 Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Love this signing getting more proven 3-4 personnel is a really good thing. Still think we should sign a few on the D-line and a OLB who can play in a 3-4.
Green Lightning Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Nice Pickup!!! Way to go Buddy!! +1 It does start to make our draft picture a bit clearer. This was a solid pick up.
lets_go_bills Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Good signing. Good, but not great. But he's a good tackler.
Bring Back Kelly Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 crap, she's a fine looking woman. I would Tweet her anytime
Bring Back Kelly Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Yeah another slow LB who can't cover. Screw you. The Bills added a quality LB. Cant say you were gonna get anyone close. Porter yes, but not much after that.
offyourocker Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 I saw the spine guy here today, Dr. Cappuccino and he said everything looked good. If Cappuccino thinks he's ok then he's ok. You know you can thrust Cappuccino. Every time I feel tired, Cappuccino picks me right back up.
