freester Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 I don't understand why he wouldn't want to be traded to a contender closer to his home in Texas. He doesn't fit in a 3-4 and we are rebuilding. New Orleans could use another DE.
SuperBills12 Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 I suspect that he will be traded. I think a lot depends on the draft.

Rockinon Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 After all the years that Schobel has been on this team it is clear that he is a no nonsense personality. To think that his statements are posturing is just plain wrong. He doesn't speak often and he definitely doesn't like talking to the media. When he does, he says what he means and that is that. If he says he will play here or retire, you can bet your a** that is just what will happen. He will not be traded and that's a fact.

He still has some good years and left and I'm sure he doesn't want to go out as a loser. Trade him to Houston or the Saints.
....lybob Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Why doesn't he want to be traded? my guess is he'd rather be cut so he negotiate where and how much.
Magox Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Who is this Schoebel guy that I keep hearing about?
Tortured Soul Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 I agree with you. I think his media statements are just posturing. Hopefully we can get a draft pick for him. Posturing? To what end?
Jerry Jabber Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 When Aaron Schobel was asked his opinion on how the Bills were doing during this past season, I think he replied that he was disgusted (or something along those lines). A day or two later, Dick Jauron was fired. So when Schobel speaks, his words hold a lot of weight with the team. IMO, I think he would be a good OLB, but it's his choice to come back. I would hope that he would either stay on the team or we could get a good draft pick from a trade for him.

Having said that, even no-nonsense guys change their minds sometimes. But I don't agree with the OP when he says that Schobel doesn't fit in a 3 - 4. That has yet to be determined. He could possibly fit in a Joey Porter-like rush LB role.
Thurman#1 Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Who is this Schoebel guy that I keep hearing about? Yeah, you probably missed Bruce Smith too. Both good players.
freester Posted March 16, 2010 Author Posted March 16, 2010 Posturing? To what end? to get released or traded. If he demands a trade publicly, it lowers his trade value
MikeOxbig Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 I agree with you. I think his media statements are just posturing. Hopefully we can get a draft pick for him. We need a draft pick more than we need him this year. I've always liked Schobel but he's worthless to us now.
It's in My Blood Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Who is this Schoebel guy that I keep hearing about? Is it Shwabels or Schoebels?
JimBob2232 Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Is it Shwabels or Schoebels? Who let Simon Wilcots on the forum?
Steely Dan Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Schobel is a loyal Bills player. It makes me like him even more!
