I don't feel like filling out a form to test my speed. I use:

http://speedtest.net/

1.27 M down.

0.21 M up.

My service is supposed to be 1.5 M down.

i got as far as the form to fill out for a government agency about my internet connection and turned around as well.

at work, we usually use http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

i just got:

5.04Mbps Down

2.98Mbps Up

Comcast

Atlanta, GA

I've seen that go as high as 24Mbps down and 10Mbps up, but that was before Comcast went to tiered package pricing.

I did the one you did Dean. Didn't feel like doing the paperwork either

9.61 down

8.97 up

Did that on the wireless connection though with the laptop. Not the hard wired server

It shouldn't matter (except possibly the latency), since your broadband will be slower than your wireless connection anyway.

Try it out to make sure though. :)

I did not consider that I did it wireless, I'll have to try it again hard wired.

My original wireless result

5474 kbps Download

1010 kbps Upload

27 ms Latency

47 ms Jitter

Time Warner RR, Central NY

Wired, directly onto the cable modem...

19930 kbps Download

982 kbps Upload

23 ms Latency

1 ms Jitter

So a definte improvement on the download.

or, less people in your neighborhood are on their computers. Need to do both around the same time for a truly accurate comparison. just a fyi.

I considered that, but since the upload and latentcy are about the same, I feel it's a decent comparison.
