KD in CA Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Cue the outrage from the left wingers who picketed AIG and others. Wait, what? These retention bonuses go to government employees? Oh, never mind.
IDBillzFan Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 "I'm surprised. Yeah," House Speaker Christopher Donovan, D-Meriden, said when shown the higher figures. "It's another thing for us to look at." Yeah, I'm sure you'll get right on that.
Doc Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Cue the outrage from the left wingers who picketed AIG and others. Wait, what? These retention bonuses go to government employees? Oh, never mind. Yep, gotta pay those bonuses to keep "the best and the brightest" in government jobs.
VABills Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Yep, gotta pay those bonuses to keep "the best and the brightest" in government jobs. Someone has to watch the asian carp in the great lakes. What else would Eric be qualified for? He'd be on welfare/unemployment otherwise.
Doc Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Someone has to watch the asian cap in the great lakes. What else would Eric be qualified for? He'd be on welfare/unemployment otherwise. Meanwhile, if ObamaCare passes, the U.S. will become hypoxic from the vacuum created by all the doctors who retire early/leave practice altogether, as well as all of the students who dis-enroll from med school.
pBills Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Cue the outrage from the left wingers who picketed AIG and others. Wait, what? These retention bonuses go to government employees? Oh, never mind. Absolutely ridiculous to pay out these bonuses... AIGs and the State.
DC Tom Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Absolutely ridiculous to pay out these bonuses... AIGs and the State. I don't see why. If giving the unions 80% of GM was fair, I don't see why giving free money to AIG's people and state employees would be unfair.
ExiledInIllinois Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 It is !@#$ing CT for crying out loud... The insurance capital of the world... What do you expect? I thought you were making a relevant post/thread... So I countered it with my own.
ExiledInIllinois Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Someone has to watch the asian carp in the great lakes. What else would Eric be qualified for? He'd be on welfare/unemployment otherwise. Why? Are they swimming up the Mill and Quinnipiac? We don't get any bonuses in the fed... I wish though! I am a working slob!
buffaloaggie Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Meanwhile, if ObamaCare passes, the U.S. will become hypoxic from the vacuum created by all the doctors who retire early/leave practice altogether, as well as all of the students who dis-enroll from med school. Cue the flood of foreign doctors. I look forward to the curry aroma as I'm getting my prostate checked.
Doc Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Cue the flood of foreign doctors. I look forward to the curry aroma as I'm getting my prostate checked. I'm Indian by descent, you know.
ExiledInIllinois Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 I'm Indianan by descent, you know. I didn't know Hoosiers can be doctors. I jest... I jest!
IDBillzFan Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 I'm Indian by descent, you know. You're also Indian by the scent, you know.
KD in CA Posted March 12, 2010 Author Posted March 12, 2010 Absolutely ridiculous to pay out these bonuses... AIGs and the State. So you'd be in full support of the Governor voiding any contracts (including labor contracts) that call for payment of these bonuses?
ExiledInIllinois Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 So you'd be in full support of the Governor voiding any contracts (including labor contracts) that call for payment of these bonuses? Yes.
KD in CA Posted March 12, 2010 Author Posted March 12, 2010 Yes. I'm sure you are, because you get all giddy at the thought of rampant chaos. But I was wondering if our resident union-apologist would say the same.
Doc Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 You're also Indian by the scent, you know. Not I! Although the FMG's definitely can get a little ripe now and then.
pBills Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 I'm sure you are, because you get all giddy at the thought of rampant chaos. But I was wondering if our resident union-apologist would say the same. union apologist? Ummm ok? And yes, I would say no to these types of bonuses especially now with the economy the way it is.
DC Tom Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 union apologist? Ummm ok? And yes, I would say no to these types of bonuses especially now with the economy the way it is. That's not what he asked. He asked if you'd be okay with the state voiding labor contracts to cancel the bonuses. In other words, would you be okay with cancelling benefits that are contractually guaranteed?
ExiledInIllinois Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 I'm sure you are, because you get all giddy at the thought of rampant chaos. So true! I think there are some prominent posters here that also think the same... They just disguise it with the "everybody should be free" idea.
