Mel Kiper and Todd McShay's Updated Mock Drafts: March 10,2010...

Mel Kiper:

#1 St. Louis Rams: Sam Bradford QB Oklahoma

Kiper: The Rams passed up Matt Ryan for Chris Long and Mark Sanchez for Jason Smith over the last two years, and the results are obvious: they're drafting here. The feeling has changed, and they have a chance to get Bradford, who could have been No. 1 over Matthew Stafford last year. Questions still surround Bradford, but the Rams are now thinking it could be a greater risk not to take a guy like Bradford.

#2 Detroit Lions: Ndamokung Suh DT Nebraska

Kiper: Detroit has made a pair of moves in the past week to upgrade along the defensive line and adding a player of Suh's caliber here has them in position to make massive strides on the defensive side of the ball in 2010. They can't lose with Suh or McCoy here, but I give the slight edge to Suh.

#3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Gerald McCoy DT Oklahoma

Kiper: It would be hard to pass up a potential Pro Bowl player, and a guy that many consider the best overall player in the draft, at No. 3. McCoy should provide an immediate upgrade against both the run and as an interior pass-rusher, which will help the secondary in the process.

#4 Washington Redskins: Jimmy Clausen QB Notre Dame

Kiper: I continue to believe that Clausen will see his stock grow when he is physically ready to perform for NFL personnel people. He has all the tools to become a solid NFL quarterback, and the Redskins both need one, and have a chance to develop him.

#5 Kansas City Chiefs: Eric Berry S Tennessee

Kiper: The Chiefs will race to the podium when Berry is still there at this position. He's a clear need fit, is exceptional value here, and Berry showed in Indy that his physical capabilities match the outstanding film. The Ed Reed comparisons are legit.

#6 Seattle Seahawks: Russell Okung OT Ok. State

Kiper: Seattle isn't going to find the heir to Walter Jones anywhere on the virtually empty free agent market, and Okung is an ideal replacement here. I see Okung as a steady player whose stock hasn't slipped all year. A safe, solid pick that directly impacts the team.

#7 Cleveland Browns: Jason Pierre-Paul DE/OLB USF

Kiper: Pierre-Paul has the chance to be a dynamic star in the NFL if he continues to develop, and would be a dangerous pass-rusher as he is now. With off-the-charts physical skills for his size, he's an exciting talent. I said before he could be the Mario Williams of this draft, and I'll maintain that.

#8 Oakland Raiders: Bruce Campbell OT Maryland

Kiper: You could see the Raiders taking Trent Williams or Anthony Davis here, but Campbell fits the Al Davis profile. He's a need pick, and maybe a reach, but he's also a stunningly impressive physical package, the tops among all tackles available. Campbell has star talent, but productivity is still a question. In a nutshell: he makes sense in Oakland.

#9 Buffalo Bills: Trent Williams OT Oklahoma

Kiper: Dez Bryant could be a temptation here, but a versatile talent like Williams -- who has lined up at left and right tackle -- would help the Bills immediately. He aids the run game, and will help whichever QB is taking snaps for the Bills stay upright.

#10 Jacksonville Jaguars: Derrick Morgan DE Georgia Tech

Kiper: Jacksonville won't stop with the signing of Aaron Kampman, not when they got two sacks out of defensive ends last year. Morgan is great value at No. 10, a remarkably productive and versatile player, and allows them to rotate in Derrick Harvey. Don't forget, it's not just a pass-rush with Morgan -- he's great against the run.

#11 Denver Broncos: Dez Bryant WR Oklahoma State

Kiper: I had the Broncos taking Dan Williams here until they used free agency to add the likes of Jamal Williams to that interior line. Problem solved. Bryant fills another need, a downfield threat and the top WR available for a team that's likely to lose Brandon Marshall.

#12 Miami Dolphins: Dan Williams DT Tennessee

#13 San Francisco 49ers: Joe Haden CB Florida

#14 Seattle Seahawks: Everson Griffin DE USC

#15 New York Giants: Rolando McClain ILB Alabama

#16 Tennessee Titans: Sergio Kindle DE/OLB Texas

#17 San Francisco 49ers: Mike Iupati G Idaho

#18 Pittsburgh Steelers: Anthony Davis OT Rutgers

#19 Atlanta Falcons: Brandon Graham DE Michigan

#20 Houston Texans: Kyle Wilson CB Boise State

#21 Cincinatti Bengals: Arrellious Benn WR Illinois

#22 New England Patriots: CJ Spiller RB Clemson

#23 Green Bay Packers: Bryan Bulaga OT Iowa

#24 Philadelphia Eagles: Maurkice Pouncey G/C Florida

#25 Baltimore Ravens: Jermaine Gresham TE Oklahoma

#26 Arizona Cardinals: Jerry Hughes DE TCU

#27 Dallas Cowboys: Earl Thomas S Texas

#28 San Diego Chargers: Terrence Cody DT/BuffetCleaner Alabama

#29 New York Jets: Taylor Mays S USC

#30 Minnesota Vikings: Devin McCourty CB Rutgers

#31 Indianapolis Colts: Brian Price DT UCLA

#32 New Orleans: Sean Witherspoon LB Missouri

Todd McShay Mock Draft 3.0

#1 St. Louis Rams: Sam Bradford QB Oklahoma

McShay: Taking a quarterback at No. 1 overall has proved risky, and adding to the uncertainty are concerns about the spread system in which Bradford played, the fact that he was generally well protected and the shoulder injury that ended his 2009 season. However, Bradford has the accuracy and overall intangibles that NFL starters need, and if his shoulder exams and workouts are satisfactory, we expect him to be the Rams' choice.

#2 Detroit Lions: Ndamokung Suh DT Nebraska

McShay: Suh might not penetrate opposing backfields as consistently as Gerald McCoy, but he should quickly emerge as a three-down force along the interior. Suh could make the same kind of impact that Albert Haynesworth made in Tennessee when current Lions head coach Jim Schwartz was on the Titans' staff.

#3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Gerald McCoy DT Oklahoma

McShay: McCoy is the best pass-rushing defensive tackle in this class. His quick first step and relentless pursuit of the quarterback would be a welcome addition to a Buccaneers defense that tied for 26th in the league with just 28 sacks last season.

#4 Washington Redskins: Russell Okung OT Ok. State

McShay: Bradford would make sense if he's available, but reaching for Jimmy Clausen would be a mistake. If Bradford is off the board, the Redskins would be wise to solidify their offensive line with Okung, who is the top-rated tackle on the board and a player who is ready to step into a starting role immediately.

#5 Kansas City Chiefs: Eric Berry S Tennessee

McShay: The Chiefs have bigger needs, including offensive tackle, but Berry is clearly the best available player in this scenario. Berry's range and ball skills would significantly upgrade a safety group that comes up short in both areas.

#6 Seattle Seahawks: Bryan Bulaga OT Iowa

McShay: Bulaga is not a special athlete, but he has enough size, balance and technique to develop into a solid starter in the NFL. Seattle's biggest weakness is at tackle, and it needs to stay ahead of the curve rather than take a chance that another top tackle will be available at No. 14.

#7 Cleveland Browns: Joe Haden CB Florida

McShay: Haden ran surprisingly slow 40-yard dashes at the combine, but we cannot find any issues with his playing speed on tape. Cleveland could opt for top WR Dez Bryant here, but from a positional value standpoint, we believe the team is better off spending top-seven money on a cornerback.

#8 Oakland Raiders: Bruce Campbell OT Maryland

McShay: Why not? A fringe first-round prospect on most boards, Campbell was the workout warrior at this year's combine, and Al Davis' obsession with height-weight-speed combos is well-known. Trent Williams would be a better choice but also would be a reach, and Campbell's physical tools are off the charts.

#9 Buffalo Bills: Jimmy Clausen QB Notre Dame

McShay: We think the Bills should go in a different direction, but they need a long-term answer at quarterback, and Clausen is the second-best prospect in this class. Assuming his surgically repaired toe checks out, he likely will be the pick.

#10 Jacksonville Jaguars: Earl Thomas S Texas

McShay: The surprise Kampman signing fills a need at defensive end, and although quarterback and outside linebacker are need areas as well, no player at either position would be worth drafting here. An upgrade at safety is needed, too, and Thomas has the instincts, closing burst and ball skills to be a starter from day one.

#11 Denver Broncos: Dez Bryant WR Oklahoma State

McShay: Marshall is generating interest from other teams and may not be in a Broncos uniform next year. Even if Marshall doesn't leave, the Broncos have to get help at receiver, and Bryant is the best receiver in his class by far.

#12 Miami Dolphins: Dan Williams DT Tennessee

#13 San Francisco 49ers: Trent Williams OT Oklahoma

#14 Seattle Seahawks: CJ Spiller RB Clemson

#15 New York Giants: Rolando McClain ILB Alabama

#16 Tennessee Titans: Derrick Morgan DE Georgia Tech

#17 San Francisco 49ers: Jason Pierre-Paul DE/OLB USF

#18 Pittsburgh Steelers: Mike Iupati G Idaho

#19 Atlanta Falcons: BEverson Griffin DE USC

#20 Houston Texans: Kyle Wilson CB Boise State

#21 Cincinatti Bengals: Taylor Mays S USC

#22 New England Patriots: Brandon Graham DE Michigan

#23 Green Bay Packers: Anthony Davis OT Rutgers

#24 Philadelphia Eagles: Sergio Kinkle OLB Texas

#25 Baltimore Ravens: Jermaine Gresham TE Oklahoma

#26 Arizona Cardinals: Jerry Hughes DE TCU

#27 Dallas Cowboys: Charles Brown OT USC

#28 San Diego Chargers: Ryan Matthews RB Fresno State

#29 New York Jets: Jared Odrick DE Penn State

#30 Minnesota Vikings: Brian Price DT UCLA

#31 Indianapolis Colts: Maurkice Pouncey C Florida

#32 New Orleans: Sean Witherspoon LB Missouri

McShay was saying that Clausen would NOT go in the first round forever. Now, he has him going to the Bills at #9.

Mock drafts are different than his player rankings. Im sure none of them think Bruce Campbell is #8 material, but they have him their because it the Oakland "combine workout" Raiders.

If the Bills are either going to be stupid and not draft a LT or NT, then they better get Spiller. His value is much higher than Clausen's.

because finding a running back is so hard to do in this league. riiiiighhht.

The only people worth the #9 pick as well as meet Buffalo's needs are as follows:

Suh, McCoy, Bradford, Okung, Bulaga, and maybe (McClain).

If all of these guys are gone at #9, then Buffalo needs to trade down to still get a top 5-6 OT and a top 5-6 DT.

to find an elite back, yes it is.

OK, but I would say with Lynch and Jackson, we are already in the upper third of the league as far as running back tandems go. As far as QB talent, we have got to be in the bottom 5. Thats why Clausen is the better pick (I am of the opinion he is going to be a good NFL QB).

There are no guarantees that Spiller will be an elite back. Yes, he has a ton of potential. The Bills have too many needs to even entertain taking Spiller. We are more than OK with Jackson and Lynch.

I don't buy much into mock drafts...when was the last time a mock draft got it right?

I'd really like to know what Nix/Gailey and Co.'s draft sheet looks like...any Buffalo insiders in here?

If they draft Spiller, I will put my foot thru yet another TV.

No matter what I still want a LT/NT -- just want to make that clear before I begin.

Firstly, I don't think Lynch is going to be here next year, and that's why the Bills are evaluating Spiller to begin with. So, I don't think it's out of the question... would I be upset with this pick? Yes, but at least it's not Maybin. Plus, the proof is in the pudding... RBs are much less risky than QBs.

Secondly, outside of some mock drafts, there hasn't been too much chatter about Clausen coming to Buffalo. I just don't see it happening. I think Brady Quinn has a better shot of landing here than Clausen. I could be wrong on this, but I really haven't seen too much interest even on the Bills' side.

An upgrade at safety is needed, too, and Thomas has the instincts, closing burst and ball skills to be a starter from day one.

#11 Denver Broncos: Dez Bryant WR Oklahoma State

McShay: Marshall is generating interest from other teams and may not be in a Broncos uniform next year. Even if Marshall doesn't leave, the Broncos have to get help at receiver, and Bryant is the best receiver in his class by far.

#12 Miami Dolphins: Dan Williams DT Tennessee

#13 San Francisco 49ers: Trent Williams OT Oklahoma

#14 Seattle Seahawks: CJ Spiller RB Clemson

#15 New York Giants: Rolando McClain ILB Alabama

#16 Tennessee Titans: Derrick Morgan DE Georgia Tech

#17 San Francisco 49ers: Jason Pierre-Paul DE/OLB USF

#18 Pittsburgh Steelers: Mike Iupati G Idaho

#19 Atlanta Falcons: BEverson Griffin DE USC

#20 Houston Texans: Kyle Wilson CB Boise State

#21 Cincinatti Bengals: Taylor Mays S USC

#22 New England Patriots: Brandon Graham DE Michigan

#23 Green Bay Packers: Anthony Davis OT Rutgers

#24 Philadelphia Eagles: Sergio Kinkle OLB Texas

#25 Baltimore Ravens: Jermaine Gresham TE Oklahoma

#26 Arizona Cardinals: Jerry Hughes DE TCU

#27 Dallas Cowboys: Charles Brown OT USC

#28 San Diego Chargers: Ryan Matthews RB Fresno State

#29 New York Jets: Jared Odrick DE Penn State

#30 Minnesota Vikings: Brian Price DT UCLA

#31 Indianapolis Colts: Maurkice Pouncey C Florida

#32 New Orleans: Sean Witherspoon LB Missouri

First and foremost let me say thank you for the posting. I still strongly believe that the Bills will be drafting a LT when their turn comes up. Okung should be gone but Buluga or Williams should be there when we pick.

If Bradford goes in the first round I strongly believe that Clausen will go to the Redskins. Last year the owner and staff went to a Notre Dame game to watch Clausen. I'm aware that Shanahan and Bruce Allen are making the football decisions but it has been very evident for a very long time that the Skins want to go in a different direction at the qb position.

that's just not true..RBs are a dime a dozen, and elite or not, they last 5 years

The "elite" RB is a dinosaur in the NFL. RBs are easily disposable in today's NFL. Just get a group of guys and run them through holes up the middle until they break down then stick the next one in there. Its modeled after the Pats. The Saints, Colts, Pats, Jets, Ravens are all taking that approach. More teams will going forward.

#9 Buffalo Bills: Trent Williams OT Oklahoma would be fantastic.

Not sexy but very needed.

If we took Clausen it would be a disaster!

No it's not... any team in the NFL would dump their "tandems" or "change of pace guy" if they could get their hands on a Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson, MJD or Steven Jackson.
