Bills have a surplus at DB

Recommended Posts

You can never have too many good DBs. Imagine what would have happened last year if we didn't ahve such good depth when 3/4 of our secondary was injured. Would have gotten torched. Instead, we ended up having a defense that ended up in the top 5 in virtually very passing category. If anything, trade down out of the 9 slot and pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd rounder for moving a few slots down. When you have this many holes to fill, the more picks you have, the better.

A defense that is very soft against the run always has skewed pass defense numbers because you do not need to throw on this team, Our pass defense is average, not good, not great only average. Whenever a team needed to pass they did effectively. This team sucks in every area except special teams and we let the best ST coach in the NFL go.

Wish we put Whitner on the block. Probaly would'nt get much more than a 5th, but weve seen enough already. He's a liability in the pass game and Scott is much better against the run. Lankster should be given more play once Donte is gone. For what ever reason Whitner wants to go to Cleveland so let's straight up trade Whitner for Quinn.

bullcrap...the team was thrown against over 32 times per game. In fact, teams that have poor run defense, usually are EASIER to throw against since they have to sell out against the run and are more likely to fall for play action passes. The Bills were EXCEPTIONAL against the pass last year. Not average, not good, not great. Takes a look at any defensive passing category and the Bills will be in the top 5. That is pretty impressive, considering teams should have had a much easier time throwing against them due to their poor run defense and their almost as bad pass rush. If other teams didn't pass that much how did they end up with 28 INT's, 2nd best in the league, with the Bills averaging 1 INT every 18.5 pass attempts against(2nd to Green Bays 18)?

Here is the breakdown for you:

Completion percentage against: 56.8%(3rd best)

Passing yards against: 2948(2nd best)

Passing yards/attempt: 6.0(2nd best)

Passing yards/game against: 184.2(2nd best)

Passing TDs against: 14(2nd best)

Interceptions: 28(2nd best)

Passing 1st downs against: 157(3rd best)

Percentage of passes resulting in 1st downs against: 30.3%(3rd best)

Passes longer than 20 yards against: 34(3rd best)

Passes longer than 40 yards against: 5(5th best)

Passer Rating against: 61.1(2nd best)

If you think that is average you have serious issues regarding ability to analyze facts. Even more unbelievable is they did this with numerous starters missing from the secondary in games and didn't miss a beat. Its OK to admit the Bills were really really really good at something last year. Its OK...really it is. I know everyone has to try so hard to discredit this, but it just can't be done if you watched the games and combine them with the statistics.
