Either the new front office is more incompetent than the last FO, or Cornell Green is the only person they could get to come to Buffalo. Below is a quote from Rotoworld:

"While Buffalo is undoubtedly desperate for tackle help, the signing is curious. Green received no known interest elsewhere, turns 34 before the season, and has played a full 16-game schedule just once in his 10-year career. The Raiders were also always trying to replace Green, which isn't a good sign."

It seems that they won't even give the time of day to players that could really help this team fill their many, many holes, than they over pay for subpar, over the hill players that not a single other team in the NFL has any interest for. For anyone wondering why the Bills have sucked for a decade, signings like this are a big part of the answer.

Makes me really want to re-up my season by tomorrow's deadline for a small savings they offer. They've really wowed the fan base with this one.

The Raiders also traded Moss for a 4th round pick. I'm not saing Green is a good move but basing it on the idea that the Raiders know what they're doing is silly.

I think it's really stupid to hate on players who aren't:

1. Guaranteed a roster spot.

2. Guaranteed a starting job.

3. Most haven't seen play.

To say nothing of the ridiculous notion that a player sucks because his former team sucks. That's so stupid the word doesn't even come close to describing it. Does Nnamdi Asomugha suck because he plays for the Raiders? Yeah, didn't think so.

The Raiders were last in the NFL in interceptions.

That dude obviously sucks.

Here's the list of UFA OTs. There's no young upstarts with potential on this list. It's all players with one shortcoming or another and unfortunately the Bills needed to sign one as a stop gap replacement for Butler.

Its really too bad that when big free agents are available us Bill fans know we wont even look at them.....ie..Haynesworth,peppers,but if they are problems like T.O or Porter there may be a chance because nobody else wants them.

So, no one has said he is guaranteed a spot in the starting rotation. He could be a solid back up or good competition for a young LT

How do you know who they've considered, didn't see it on the Schefter Twitter?

You have no idea how happy that post made me.

I love it when someone posts with common sense and reasoning rather than irrational judgments. :wallbash:

Not really a bad signing. We need a veteran RT because Jonathan Scott is gone and we know that Chambers sucks and was cut last year.

I suspect that RT will be a competition between Meredith, Green and a rookie most likely drafted in the mid to late rounds. If Meredith is going to start he needs to beat out a veteran that has started in the past, not a rookie. If Meredith wins then Green may be kept for depth or cut. If Green beats out Meredith then we improved from where we are today.

Hopefully the rookie RT can develop without getting thrown into the fray too early.

This assumes we draft a Left OT in round 1 and Bell is his backup.

Guaranteed? No. But he's our new starter at right tackle. And judgments on him are based on his proclivity to commit too many penalties and allow too many sacks. That's on him, not his team. Pro scouts rate him as "adequate," not his team. And his crappy team, which is better than ours by the way, has been consistently looking to replace him. Their gain is our loss.

"After his conversations with Buffalo's coaching staff over the past day or so, Green believes he'll be manning the right tackle position when all is said and done, a position that's very familiar to him."

Not necessarily. It could be Bell, or Meridith, or a mid to late round draft pick. He might not even make the team ala Will James and Domenic Rhodes.

Agreed. There is always the possibility he gets cut if say Bell or Meredith or a draft pick impress in training camp/preseason.

Reread the quote from the article. He's basically been assured by the coaches he'll be starting at RT. Could he be beaten out by Bell or Meredith, maybe because the bar isn't set that high, but the coaches have him penciled in as starter. He wouldn't have signed for $9M otherwise.

He'll probably accidentally waste it calling Conner a child over in PPP again

Exactly, that's how they got him to sign. Tell the guy he's the starter and he's game. But now what can we do if he is outplayed by Bell or Meredith? Pencil him in as experienced depth or cut him if it's necessary.

Really, this was a smart move, no matter how bad people want to put a negative spin on it. Sure, we would have liked a better OT, with a better track record, but the FA pool isn't exactly teeming with great options this year.
