Has anyone read this book?

5000 Year Leap

I have the opportunity to attend a 6 week class taught by a Constitutional Lawyer. The class is supposed to incorporate some points/topics from this book.

I've not read the book, and know nothing about it, so if someone has read it or knows about it, I'd be interested to hear their thoughts.

I haven't read it but there is a TV show based on the book currently airing on ABC. You might be able to short-cut the class with some DVDs. To summarize:

It sucks.

I have not read it either, but I believe it pertains to the frequency in which the Bills win the Superbowl.

I thought it was about how often conner gets something right...

I thought it was pertaining to the time lapsed in between Big Cat's misunderstood comments that he chalks it up as "irony".

Or until he says "You all don't have any sense of humor. I was just joking."

Interesting point of view in that article.

Obviously the writer doesn't care much for Beck or Skousen. I wish he would have gone into a bit more depth on the specific problems with the writings instead of just out of context blanket statements that other people/organizations didn't like the guy. Instead of bashing the author, I wish he would have argued the problems and discrepancies.

It doesn't make him wrong, just a bad debater.

After reading his 28 Principles of Freedom, I had a feeling this would be highly controversial.

28 Principles of Freedom

While I don't agree with nearly everything on that list, I wouldn't say all 28 are incorrect. At least based on the face value of the list. I don't know if those quotes on that site are added by that site's author or taken from the book.

Anyone care to have a third party internet debate on what this lawyer has to say? As in I'll take notes (6 classes 1 night a week, 6 weeks) each week, and let you all know what he says. Feel free to argue and bash as I'm not invested in this at all. First class is tomorrow night.

Good lord, how many of those cited god? The founding fathers he gives so much credit to were not pious or even religious. You can pull god from a letter or speech here or there but Adams, Washington, Jefferson, and Franklin--to name a few--were not religious and bordered on hardly believing in god whatsoever.

Regarding the author, I don't know his work at all. Sounds like all he did was take a bunch of the foudning priciples and write about them, and for whatever reason, Glenn Beck decided to diefy the author, which makes all his minions go grab the book.

But substitute every reference to "God" with "Flying Spaghetti Monster", and it's a great read.

And anyone who references the Pledge of Allegiance as a founding principle of our country is just an ass.

Maybe if you leap 5000 years, Big Cats choice of "partners" will be acceptable. Woof woof.
