As the Oscars are handed out this weekend to honor last years films, the month of March rolls in to bring new and brighter options for this year. The Spring Season brings along bigger names and titles as a precursor to the giant productions of the upcoming summer.

Leading things off is the 6th teaming of director Tim Burton and actor Johnny Depp in the Walt Disney Pictures production of "Alice in Wonderland". Depp leads an ensemble cast in the classic tale, although this is not the typical telling of this Alice story. 19-year-old Alice returns to the magical world from her childhood adventure, where she reunites with her old friends and learns of her true destiny: to end the Red Queen's reign of terror. Burton & Depp have meant box office gold recently and this timeout should be no different, as this story seems all to perfect for their talents. Also starring Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Alan Rickman, Crispin Glover, Stephen Fry & Michael Sheen.

Matt Damon headlines "Green Zone". Discovering covert and faulty intelligence causes a U.S. Army officer to go rogue as he hunts for Weapons of Mass Destruction in an unstable region. Also starring Jason Issacs & Greg Kinnear.

The romantic-buddy-comedy comes in the form of "The Bounty Hunter". A bounty hunter learns that his next target is his ex-wife, a reporter working on a murder cover-up. Soon after their reunion, the always-at-odds duo find themselves on a run-for-their-lives adventure with a bunch of New Jersey heavies in pursuit. Starring Jennifer Aniston & Gerard Butler.

A pair of family films with different themes look to please many....

In "Diary of a Wimpy Kid", Seventh grader Greg Heffle outlines the events and adventures of his daily life in the diary his mother forces him to keep. Starring Zachary Gordon.

"How to Train your Dragon", Follows young Viking Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third (voice of Jay Baruchel) sent to the Isle of Berk in the North Sea, where he is to subdue a dragon as a rite of passage. Starring Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler and America Ferrera.

Spring is definitely in the air with all the romantic comedy/drama movies scheduled....

"Remember Me", is a romantic drama centered on two new lovers: Tyler (Pattinson), whose parents have split in the wake of his brother's suicide, and Ally (de Ravin), who lives each day to the fullest since witnessing her mother's murder. Starring Robert Pattinson, Emilie de Ravin, Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper & Lena Olin.

In "Our Family Wedding", The weeks leading up to a young couple's wedding is comic and stressful, especially as their respective fathers try to lay to rest their long-standing feud. Starring Forest Whitaker, America Ferrera, Carlos Mencia, Taye Diggs & Regina King.

And in "She's Out of My League", A guy lets his insecurities pick away at his fledgling relationship with the perfect gal. Starring Jay Baruchel & Alice Eve.

In "Hot Tub Time Machine", Four guy friends, all of them bored with their adult lives, travel back to their respective 80s heydays thanks to a time-bending hot tub. Starring John Cusack, Rob Corrdry, Craig Robinson, Clark Duke, Crispin Glover, Lizzy Caplan & Chevy Chase.

In "Brooklyn's Finest", Three veteran cops struggling with their own personal and professional dilemmas dispatched to a notorious housing project, where they will each collide with destiny. Starring Richard Gere, Ethan Hawke, Don Cheadle & Wesley Snipes.

In "Repo Men", Set in a world where artificial organs are readily available for purchase, a man (Law) who makes his living repossessing organs from those who fail to make their payments first finds himself outfitted with a new heart, then forced to go on the run when he falls on hard financial times. Starring Jude Law, Liev Schrieber, Forest Whitaker & Alice Braga.

I saw, How to Train Your Dragon. Animation is great, and a great blend of adventure and comedy.

It is one of the few non-Pixar computer animated movies that I have thoroughly enjoyed.
