Mike in Syracuse Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 I was watching NFL Live last night (admittedly I was half asleep) but I could have sworn I heard them say that Mawae is going to be a free agent. I realize the guy is as old as Ralph but he's not injury prone and he's a damn good center. If Wood comes back he could move to guard. That would allow Levitre to move to tackle which was his college postion. Resign Incognito, draft an OT and at least we'd have a starting OL again. Thoughts?
Dr. Trooth Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Thoughts? he's like 40 years old... how about we let him enjoy his frickin pension?
Mike in Syracuse Posted March 4, 2010 Author Posted March 4, 2010 he's like 40 years old... how about we let him enjoy his frickin pension? So is Brett Favre, would you like to add him to our roster? Yes Mawae is old but he's as good as anyone we have on our roster right now and would be cheap.
BUFFALOTONE Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 There's nothing better than a Veteran center to help out a young OL and QB. Even if its for 1-2 years i would jump all over it. That Matthews guys was alright into his 40's.

So now you're implying that Ralph IS injury prone and WOULDN'T make a good center? Is there no end to the abuse Mr. Wilson takes around here? GO BILLS!!!
John from Riverside Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 I have always liked this guy......at one point he was a dominant center He could still be servicable
JStranger76 Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 I wouldn't mind it but if I hear one more "move Levitre to tackle" comment I'm gonna call Christopher Walken and have him stab somebody in the face with a soddering iron.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 If the long term plan is still to move Woods to center, then while this this may help short term would hurt long term. So I'd not be in favor of it. On the other hand if you want to sign a tackle, go for it as there isn't necessarily one ready to step in right now. stuckincincy Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 ...and have him stab somebody in the face with a soldering iron. ...what an image that paints!
Green Lightning Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 So is Brett Favre, would you like to add him to our roster? Yes Mawae is old but he's as good as anyone we have on our roster right now and would be cheap. \ Farve didn't bend his knees at an acute angle and blast into a 300 pound-plus body every play of a game. We need to play young guys and let them grow into a line that will be together for a many years. Signing an old, albeit "serviceable" player, would just delay the growth and cohesion we need for our future O line.
John from Riverside Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 I really hate to say this but Suppose Wood doesnt come back in the perfect scenario we are all dreaming for? Having a guy like Mawae might soften the blow a bit And yes....I def hope for a speedy, healthy, return by Wood

tombstone56 Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 THE FACT THATYOU EVEN SUGGESTTED A 39 YEAR OLD AS A FA PICKUP SHOWS HOW CLUELESS YOU ARE.. GO BACK AND GET YOUR CRAYONS AND COLORING BOOK OUT...
lets_go_bills Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Too old now. A fiery vet and a strong leader but he's just too old now. I don't think he'd be an upgrade over Hangartner.
Mike in Syracuse Posted March 4, 2010 Author Posted March 4, 2010 How can Wood move to guard when he is a guard? You're right. For some reason I completely forgot about Hangartner and was thinking that Wood played was playing his college postion.
seadog Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Oh god please no. He's a dinosuar and moves like one too. Watched him some last year and looked so slow coming out of his stance.
