JoeF Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-3...f5-02bf9e005a28 This will be my favorite off-season signing. He and Lonnie Harvey were buds in Panthers camp last summer... The Bills made their first free agent signing a few days prior to when most NFL contracts expire, as the club reached an agreement with defensive tackle Marlon Favorite. Favorite (6’1” 317) was an undrafted rookie free agent last year that was signed by the Carolina Panthers. He did not make their opening day roster, but spent time on the St. Louis, Kansas City, Seattle and New Orleans practice squads in 2009. The LSU product appeared in 40 games for the Tigers, making 17 starts. Favorite was a member of LSU’s 2007 National Championship team where he played both nose tackle and the three-technique tackle position in the Tigers 4-3 system.
SawchukBills Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Don't know much about his except he went undrafted and spent most of his time on the practice squad. I'm hoping your comment means he's a hidden gem and not a lack of FA signings...
Philo Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Definitely not a flashy signing by any means, but it is good to see that the Bills are already bringing in guys to compete this off-season.

BillsGuyInMalta Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 I vaguely remember him when he played for LSU.
BLZFAN4LIFE Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 I'll admit that I know nothing about this kid, but the fact that he couldn't stick with 5 different clubs is all I need to know.
Peter Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 This was my favorite move today. Sorry, I could not resist.
BillsGuyInMalta Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 I'll admit that I know nothing about this kid, but the fact that he couldn't stick with 5 different clubs is all I need to know. Couldn't one argue the fact that since 5 different clubs wanted him in the first place he must be doing something right? Odds are it's just a training camp move...we always see these from the Bills right before free agency kicks off. But I'm definitely not dismissing anyone at this point. Except Kelsay. He's been dismissed.
BeastMode54 Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 does anyone know about him? ive read in a bunch of places that he is very talented but an underaciever. Maybe we can turn him around
Philo Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 I'll admit that I know nothing about this kid, but the fact that he couldn't stick with 5 different clubs is all I need to know. It's not like he was announced as the starting NT. Just bringing him in to compete does no harm. Who knows? He could fit in with George Edwards' system and be an asset. Nothing is guaranteed at this point so there is no problem in exploring your options.
Food_Pyramid_Wrong Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Big Fav's adversity will come this summer in the form of #70 Eric Wood. Then we'll see how he handles adversity.

But I'm definitely not dismissing anyone at this point. Except Kelsay. He's been dismissed. It depends on the way you look at it. 5 teams did say "thanks, but no thanks". It doesn't say much for him that he couldn't make the Panthers roster because DT Maake Kemoeatu lasted fewer than 30 minutes in Carolina's first training camp practice before tearing his right Achilles tendon, leaving the Panthers in disarray at the position where they entered with the least depth.
Acantha Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 I remember him being a solid contributor at LSU. Not dominant, but made plays. Given his track record I imagine he's camp fodder, but with all the holes this team has, I'm just glad to know the front office is out there looking for players.

Considering he got the 5-sentence treatment from BuffaloBills.com, clearly they don't expect too much from the guy. But hey, we've been surprised in training camp and pre-season before (see Jackson, Fred)
BLZFAN4LIFE Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Well, I'll put an optimistic spin on this one, he can't be worse than John McCargo!
BillsGuyInMalta Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Well, I'll put an optimistic spin on this one, he can't be worse than John McCargo! That's the spirit!
tonyjustbcuz Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Definitely not a flashy signing by any means, but it is good to see that the Bills are already bringing in guys to compete this off-season. Like Archie Bunker used to say "Whoopy de Doo" !!!!!!! I feel encouraged that they are signing a player who didn't stick with his past "5" teams! I'm sure he'll come cheap too! Ralph & his clones should be happy about that...ugh!

Happens all the time - a player is signed, and 2 or three days later, he's cut. Occasionally, you get one that gets on the team. And these fly-by looks are a good thing all around - a player gets a trip, a nice meal and room, a couple of thou or so in his pocket if it doesn't work out. That all keeps players on the outs, looking in, keeping up his body if he call comes. There's plenty of stories about the guy who was bagging groceries showing up out of nowhere, keeping in decent shape, and hitting the big time.
