Lori Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 per vtext. Have been informed they will not be offered contracts for next season. Add: No Owens, Denney or Reed for 2010
bkc Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 per vtext. Have been informed they will not be offered contracts for next season. owens was fun, but I don't thing anyone will have a problem with this
BillsGuyInMalta Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Great news on Denney...one of the many, many overpaid Bills. If Chris Chambers doesn't sign a new contract with KC over the next few days, it seems to me like he's a lock to come here and be our 2nd WR.
Coach Tuesday Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Well Reed was a gamer and the best WR run blocker. Without Reed and without a blocking tight end they'll have to completely rebuild their perimeter running game. Maybe that's not a bad thing...
DanInUticaTampa Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 With no TO or Reed we are going to be signing some kind of a Vet reciever. I don't see us going in with just evans, hardy, parrish, and johnson. Parrish isn't good enough to start (and might even get traded away) and hardy/johnson have very limited experience. Anyone thinking we might sign bryant? There aren't exactly a lot of options in FA. I think we need a vet reciever, but shouldn't really draft one since we already have 2 young ones we should develop more.
/dev/null Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 With Reed and Owens on the way out, the folks who want to see what Hardy and Steve Johnson can do may get their wish
sven233 Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 One thing this does say is that WR in now a "NEED" position. Sure, Hardy and Johnson can see more playing time, but we are now back to being a team without a true #2 WR. Gonna need to address that. I guess I may be secretly hoping that the Bills may be one of the teams targeting Boldin in a trade....maybe a 3rd and another late pick? Granted, we do need a QB to get them the Ball, but we know having just Evans as a legit threat does not go well. We need another good one.
BillsGuyInMalta Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 TO just thanked the fans, the city of Buffalo and Ralph Wilson via Twitter. Gotta hand it to Buffalo, they actually made TO boring for an entire season. The implosion never really came.
BobbyC81 Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 owens was fun, but I don't thing anyone will have a problem with this Nope. I did not like his few blatant failures to fight for balls thrown his way, with a couple being intercepted, especially with young impressionable receivers watching.
DanInUticaTampa Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 If Chris Chambers doesn't sign a new contract with KC over the next few days, it seems to me like he's a lock to come here and be our 2nd WR. I forgot about chambers. This sounds more likely.
Thoner7 Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 I sure wont be missing them. TO a player, but he sure didnt try enough for me. Now, why hasnt Kelsay been cut?
silvermike Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Yeah, we are seriously short a #2 and a #3 WR right now, barring a huge step up from Hardy and Steve Johnson. They've got 22 catches between them over the course of two seasons. Ugh.
DanInUticaTampa Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Now, why hasnt Kelsay been cut? Because the coaching staff has said they plan to move him and ellis to OLB. Normally, when coaches have plans for players, they don't cut them.
BillsGuyInMalta Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Chris Chambers' Bills connections: Former college teammate and roommate of current Bills #1 WR, Lee Evans at Wisconsin Buddy Nix was the Assistant GM on a Chargers team that brought Chambers in for 2007 season Worked with Chan Gailey during 2009 offseason with KC.
Coach Tuesday Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Because the coaching staff has said they plan to move him and ellis to OLB. Normally, when coaches have plans for players, they don't cut them. Like when Jauron had a plan to start Langston Walker at left tackle? Kelsay and Ellis are on very short leashes.
BillsGuyInMalta Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 I think Kelsay and Ellis will survive to at least training camp. I loathe Kelsay but I'm assuming that the new regime will at least attempt to turn him into a competent LB before they cut him. Same thing with Ellis. Either way, expect the Bills to focus on bringing in some LB help via the early days of free agency. Maybe even a DE (keep an eye on Dwan Edwards).
spartacus Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 I sure wont be missing them. TO a player, but he sure didnt try enough for me. Now, why hasnt Kelsay been cut? Kelsey, Schobel, Stroud and Whitner all will be gone before too long. and forget adding any expensive free agent replacements Ralph will take advantage of the uncapped year - good thing they changed to a 3-4 making all of those underperforming, overpaid defensive guys disposable.

I wouldn't mind Kelsay at all as a back up, but his contract is ridiculously overpaying him.

I don't want expensive free agents. Just give me good ones.
