Alaska Darin Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 what did medavoy do? i assume he got into a fight at a bar he was working at? wats the big deal? 132874 He was escorting some dude out of the bar and the guy's girlfriend clocked him. NYPD Officers are not allowed to work in establishments that serve alcohol. The new Boss called in the owner of the bar and grilled him good. The owner held his own until the Boss started threatening his liquor license.
The Poojer Posted November 25, 2004 Author Posted November 25, 2004 OH, I see! its only sunday evenings that you would rather sit with your wife and read a book. Tuesday nitse you watch that soap operatic show that has naked sipowitcz'. I see! Do as i say, not as I do! He was escorting some dude out of the bar and the guy's girlfriend clocked him. When Blue is off the air, it'll just be Scrubs. I started watching it because Dennis Franz was on another cop show and the early writing was very good - I've stayed with it out of loyalty, though it's been more disappointing than engaging. Occasionally I catch Arrested Development but it hasn't garnered a coveted place on the TIVO Season Pass Lineup. Other than that: Mail Call, some History Channel stuff, once in awhile back-to-back MXC, Rescue Me, and The Shield .

Is that where you get half of your putdowns? I watched it last night for the first time in a while. That "Murray!" line just got me. I almost did a spit-take with my oj. Did you ever watch Due South? I think you might like it.
R. Rich Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 When Blue goes off the air, that will suck. That's the only ABC show I watch as I cannot stand Madden so I don't watch Monday Night Football. Their other shows just don't interest me in the least. Besides Blue, I watch Cold Case, the Law and Order shows (Criminal Intent is my favorite), the CSI shows, Without A Trace, and my usual documentaries on A&E like American Justice (my 2nd favorite show after Blue), City Confidential, Cold Case Files, and Investigative Reports. I'll sometimes catch The Simpsons, but we just buy the seasons when they come out on DVD.

Cop-buddy show. Great writing. Ring any bells? Due South description

Due South description 133040 I vaguely remember something about it, but I was indisposed in 1994 (due to military deployments). I was a huge fan of "Sports Night", which ABC completely screwed the pooch on. Brilliantly written show with a cast of nobodies. Perhaps the strongest sitcom between "Seinfeld" and "Scrubs". Aaron Sorkin was the creator.

I can only wonder how successful it would've been had HBO picked it up after ABC dropped it.

A real breath of fresh air. ABC didn't know how to market it because it wasn't tailored to the terminally stupid, like most of their insulting lineup.

Man, was that a well written show. The reason people said it didn't work is because it only followed one case for the entire season. Well, look at the success Fox had with "24", which had a similar premise. They also did a poor job with their remake of Dragnet, which started off okay but got bad in a hurry.

First episode was pretty good and the one where they reenacted the famous Hillside Strangler killings was good too. After that...
R. Rich Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 Murder One, in its first season, was incredible. Great acting, great writing. Stanley Tucci should've gotten an Emmy for his work on that show. If it ever comes on one of the pay channels in reruns (it used to be on either A&E or USA at one time), you should watch it.

OnTheRocks Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 if you are going to start comparing cop/law dramas...i have to go to bat for Homicide Life on the Street. I don't think I have enjoyed any network televsion as much as i enjoyed that. especially when they crossed over with Law and Order. ...now the only Drama i enjoy is The Shield....but they might have blew their load last season. not sure how they can top it. even though i just read recently that Glen Close will be starring this year.

Pembleton and Kellerman are two of my favorite TV characters of all time. The Shield is the best show on television, hands down. Glenn Close is going to be the new Captain of the Barn. The other shows I make a point of watching are Lost, Smallville, and the O.C. 24 was my favorite show a couple years back but they've essentially thrown out the format. Not every place in SoCal is 5 minutes from every other place. I gave up on Rescue Me about halfway through its first season. I felt like it was going nowhere.
SilverNRed Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 Oh, and I discovered Sports Night when it was on Comedy Central as a rerun. That was a great show - too bad the best ones never last. A couple years back ABC had a show called "Miracles" which had a great supernatural theme and starred a guy who worked for the Vatican investigating reported miracles around the world. It was great, and thus lasted like 5 weeks. ABC rarely knows what to do with its shows.

Tucci and Benzali were great, and a young Mary McCormick was nice too.
