Byrd the Skyhawk Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 I have a minor problem with starting a rookie at left tackle. This is a position that takes experience, and i don't think that we should spend our 9th pick on the third or fourth rated tackle prospect. This is why i propose a trade. Right now Marcus MacNiel is going to be a restricted free agent. San Diego may not be able to resign him because of the massive number of high profile free agents they have in contract years and they also need a running back to replace the likely leaving Tomlinson. I propose a trade of Marshawn and a third round pick for the rights for Macniel. Then pay him like we should have paid peters last year. Worst case scenario he signs with someone else and we get a first and a third as compensatory picks. Then our line could be. LT- MacNiel LG- Levitre C- Wood RG- Incognito RT- Bell with competition from a free agent or draft pick
Philo Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 you have no way of knowing how Wood will fare. he broke his leg. its healing fine there is no reason he will not be back before training camp IMO. as long as there are no set backs he should be fine to go. it would not surprise me one bit to see him in OTA's he may not go full tilt but i'm betting he will participate. if you noticed in his comments about buffalo he is already back in Buffalo so thats a very good sign IMO. i would not worry about wood however i agree with keeping Incognito he is a very good versitile nasty guard and center! keeping Richie would negate the bills from spending an unecessary draft pick on another guard for depth .IMO they will tender him high enough at a second or third round compensation level to protect themselves. if we do loose him and gain a second or third round pick we are still in great shape. I completely agree with you, I got a little ahead of myself when I said Incognito would be starting over Wood. But, hey, you never know. I was speaking more in terms of keeping him around because Wood may be a question mark if his recovery doesn't go as hoped.
Doc Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Incognito is a RFA and will be tendered, and is insurance for Wood. His presence means the Bills don't have to rush Wood back.
JStranger76 Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 I don't think the #9 pick will produce the 3rd or 4th best OT Byrd the Skyhawk. At worst, I think we get the 2nd T off the board. If Okung or Bulaga are both gone though, I go in the direction of my man Rolando McClain!
