The Dean Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Try running CCleaner Portable off of a USB stick: http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFT...-Portable.shtml
Jim in Anchorage Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 New update-with the info the bug sent me I was able to easily get 2GB open on C[i had no idea there were hidden files]. Now I can dump those partitions. Thanks all
stuckincincy Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 One more thing. XP reserves 12% of the hard drive for System Restore by default. That's just stupid, IMO. System Restore needs a minimum of 200MB to operate, but should never have much over 1 GB, IMO. You can get some hard disk space by reducing the amount used for System Restore: http://searchwindowsserver.techtarget.com/...1212478,00.html Good tip. I reduced mine - it took several minutes to execute. I didn't need the space, but I run my security programs frequently, and they always chewed up time analyzing the system restore points. The deletions didn't show up while running disk cleaner - but cccleaner wiped them off the disk. 173 Mb was freed up.
