Alaska Darin Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 If making fun of my kid was somehow included in a comedy show, for the sake of generating laughter from a captivated audience, then yes, I'd think that. Captivated doesn't mean what you think it does.
The Big Cat Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 Ah, so now it's different than "I think it's okay to publically or privately make fun of anybody or anything. I refuse to draw sacred lines in the sand" The back peddle begins. No, it doesn't. LA believes that someone can't be made fun of on a humorous cartoon. He also believes it's okay to make fun of people privately. I think that's bull ****, BECAUSE I think it's okay to make fun of anyone anywhere. Me pointing his hypocrisy doesn't change my own opinion.
DC Tom Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 We're talking about comedy here. Are you NOW making the argument that she shouldn't be offended because it's just comedy?
Alaska Darin Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 I think that's bull ****, BECAUSE I think it's okay to make fun of anyone anywhere. Dude seriously, just stop.
erynthered Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 (Hey conner, you may want to post something quick before Big Cat takes your title belt away.) To late. (today anyway)
The Big Cat Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 Dude seriously, just stop. See now...now I'm offended.
The Big Cat Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 Are you NOW making the argument that she shouldn't be offended because it's just comedy? Haven't I been saying that all along? We haven't actually delved into how she expressed her offense, which is an even greater sign of weakness.
IDBillzFan Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 No, it doesn't. LA believes that someone can't be made fun of on a humorous cartoon. He also believes it's okay to make fun of people privately. I think that's bull ****, BECAUSE I think it's okay to make fun of anyone anywhere. Me pointing his hypocrisy doesn't change my own opinion. The simple fact that after all of this discussion, you respond with "LA believes that someone can't be made fun of on a humorous cartoon" tells me all I need to know. Big Cat, I told you in the beginning of this thread; quit while you're ahead. Did you listen? No. I can't help you from here. You're on your own.

Whatever shall I do?
Chef Jim Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Haven't I been saying that all along? We haven't actually delved into how she expressed her offense, which is an even greater sign of weakness. Let me ask you a question. What if your mom died of cancer (hopefully she's healthy, if not let me apologize now) and I made a joke about it. I real good joke, I mean a !@#$ing gut buster. Would you be cool with that?

You don't need to apologize. Nothing is off limits.
Chef Jim Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 You don't need to apologize. Nothing is off limits. I haven't made my joke yet.
Alaska Darin Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 I haven't made my joke yet. And yet I'm already laughing.

What if your mom died of cancer (hopefully she's healthy, if not let me apologize now) and I made a joke about it. I real good joke, I mean a !@#$ing gut buster. Would you be cool with that? Well, since you qualified it as one damn good cancer joke, and since those are hard to come by, I'd undoubtedly feel a twinge of mourning, but, the release of that mourning and the ensuing relief would result only because someone had the balls to make such a heinously awesome joke, a joke that brought me to a lighter, safer side of my grieving. Turns out that's basically the physiological process by which laughter happens, anyways. So yes, I'd be cool with that.

Alaska Darin Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 bull **** Leave him alone. He's rolling.
DC Tom Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Haven't I been saying that all along? So from now on, when I refer to you as the resident serial rapist, you better not be offended. Because it's just comedy.
The Big Cat Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 bull **** Bull ****? That's a pretty convenient response to a hypothetical situation.
The Big Cat Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 So from now on, when I refer to you as the resident serial rapist, you better not be offended. Because it's just comedy. I'll gladly boast the moniker if you think it'll help your joke.
