This "unproven" and smallschool B.S. is what's getting old...need I remind you the LeFevour (corrrect spelling, by the way) started 53 games with 12,905 passing yds, 102 TD's with a 65% completion percentage....oh, and lets not forget about the 2,948 rushing yards and 47 more TD's on the ground. That's pretty "unproven" right? And stop right there before you spew more b.s. about the level of competition...surround him with the supporting casts of Bradford, McCoy, Tebow...blah, blah, blah...and he's just as good.

How about Rothlesberger (sp), another "unproven" small schooler, right? Oh, and Chad Pennington "unproven" small schooler...right? For what it's worth, Byron Leftwitch didn't have such a bad run.

Another reason he may be on the Bills' radar is the fact the guy responsible for filling Pitt's rosterwith MAC QB's is now in Buffalo...

Nice try, but do your homework next time... :nana:

Perhaps he would've performed, or may he wouldn't have. neither your or I know, so don't go making claims you can't prove. Stick with his stats, and don't degrade bradford, McCooy, Tebow, or anyone else b/c they had a "supporting cast." Unlike the MAC conference, when you play againt the elite teams in the country, you need a supporting cast.

maybe I read this wrong, but i think the point was that Lefevour is a big time player at a small time school, it wasn't a knock against the other guys because they had a supporting cast, rather a comment that if you swap out any one of them and put Lefevour in their place you would have a championship team too.

what the poster is basically saying is that you can get a successful QB who played at Akron or Appalachian State and plug him in at Texas or USC and he'll automatically be successful b/c of the cast around him. Maybe. But not necessarily so.

I'm just saying that it's silly to make such statements, b/c not only can it not be proven, but there's just so many factors that go into play that make the exercise pointless.

I do believe Lefevour is good enough to have played at any of those programs. He showed in the senior bowl that he could hang with the elite talent in CFB.

Possibly. Unfortunatly I only watched him play 1 game in college..so I really can't make a quality argument here. I'll def. be excited to follow him through the combine and into the draft.

The more and more I hear about Lefevour the more I see comparisons to Chad Pennington. Granted Chad Pennington before the injuries is a above average even bordering on top 10 NFL QB. Now do I think a Chad Pennington like QB would work in a dome or warm weather team yeah. But do I think that a Chad Pennington QB would work in Buffalo well he might with a good cast get us to the playoffs but the limitations of a guy with a weak arm will never win a SB in Buffalo.

When I draft a guy in the 1st or early 2nd round I want this guy to be able to get us a Super Bowl not just be good enough to compete and be respectable. Pass on the Lefevour and take Terrance Cody or Brandon Spikes if they are available.

Which is why we shall stick a (Tony) Pike in it via the 3rd round. This Dance Fever kid is too pudgy.

On the other hand, I did watch A LOT of Pike in college and I'd pass on him. I'd rather go with Brohm over drafting Pike.

All of them thanks to ESPN gameplan

Im curious you are so convinced Lefevour blows, as you stated before, yet you want to pick jarrett Brown, who by all accounts is a project, and has only 1 yr of starting experience.

Lefevour on the other hand has 4 yrs of starting experience, and tape to look at. All those yds and TDs both thru the air and on the ground, playing in the cold at CMU, and you don't think he can be developed in 2-3 yrs? 8 come from behind victories, shows me character, and leadership, that we havent had since Kelly left.

Now, don't get me wrong, I don't think he's a day 1 starter, nor should he go in rd 1, or probably rd 2 for that matter, i don't believe you should spend day 1 picks on QBs that won't yield results in the first two yrs, unless you have an established guy in front of him. But I do believe that Lefevour has a great upside, and with the proper coaching he will be a very dangerous Qb for someone in the future, I just hope that someone is the Buffalo Bills.

Honestly, the worst thing that could happen to Lefevour, would be to have an awesome combine that vaults him into rd 1, that would be a disaster.

The difference between a great college QB, and a college QB who has something to offer the NFL, is bigger than the Hoover Dam. LeFevour has nothing - nothing - that resembles NFL QB play. Jarret Brown yes has 1 yr experience. But in that one year, he has shown he could be an NFL QB. He has shown every physical trait one would want in an NFL QB. He has made reads, and one could only assume he will get better with experience. One cannot say the same with Lefevour. He has 4 years of film that confirms he is not and NFL caliber player. Do you think the NFL scouts would pass over a guy with that much too look at? Its not like he is coming from no where. He has the starts, the wins, the stats - they have done their home work on him... and he doesnt have it. Its so obvious to see. He does nothing - nothing - that is expected from NFL QBs nothing.

Unless we have CMU alumi on the board I know I've watched him more then anybody. In person twice, on tv about 7 or 8 times. I think he's a good college player, but I never saw him as a NFL QB prospect.

Thank you, when you watch him, he doesnt do what NFL QBs do. He has no arm strength, bad accuracy, makes no reads, and throws screen passes. Yawn.

Again, there is a HUGE difference between a great college QB, and an NFL QB. See Troy Smith, Eric Crouch, Jason White, Danny Weurffle, Chris Leak, Colt Brennan, Ghram Harrel, Timmy Chang, Chase Daniels, Ken Dorsey, and UBs [former] own Turner Gill.

The skills required to be succesful differ so much from one level of play to the other. Lefevour doesnt have what teh NFL demands. This will be proven come April.

Tebow is still my chioce bring in Thigpin to groom him and use him as a split out/TE/wildcat option guy during the first year. The kid is a winner regardless of his politics and the spread he has played in, he has been the best player in college history and the last time we had one of those we had the most exciting running back in NFL history (at the time). Kelly seems to know it, I hope we get a good chance at him (plus RW will like how many tickets and press it gets him).

bad accuracy? so 70% is bad? I don't think so, he seemed to do well at the senior bowl, combine will do alot for this kid, he'll end up being the qb steal of this draft. Just wait and see

Jarret Brown will be the 3rd or 4th QB off the board IMO - with Tebow being the ? (I have no idea where he will go). Jarret Brown played extremely well in every game he played in this year, has an NFL arm with NFL accuracy and NFL height. He is moble - but yet still a pocket passer. He can read a D fairly well considering he is a spread guy with 1 year starting experience. If we wanna get a QB to groom, he is the guy. Prob need to take him in the 2nd to guarantee he is a Bill.

See Buddy Nix's comments about not drafting 1 year wonders. Nix won't be drafting a QB who started only 1 year. You may be right about him, but forget about him becoming a Bill.

The Bills have so many needs that that they wouldn't give up a second round pick for a developmental type qb. As appealing as Garret Brwon is I do think he will be available in the third round. If some other team likes him enough to use a second round pick on him then so be it.

As I stated before I like him a lot. I saw a few WVU games on TV and he was quite impressive. Is he a Buddy Nix type of player? I'm not sure he is because of his lack of playing time, especially at the qb position. In my view he would be a worthy pick in the third round but not a good value second round pick for us.

I must admit that I've only watched Lefevour in one game, so my opinion of him is still open. Though based on what I've read on three or four sites, I probably would want him in the 3rd..if that.

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/559484

Accuracy: Runs a spread with a lot of four and five-receiver sets. High completion percentage reflects the offense's quick, short passes, but generally puts the ball where he wants to when set in the pocket. Good timing with initial receivers on stop routes. Puts the ball to the outside shoulder on sideline patterns and end zone fades. Accuracy drops when on the run, however; usually throws high or wide, even when square to the line. Must improve his ability to hit receivers on the numbers and leading them on crossing routes.

Arm Strength: Lean quarterback with very average arm strength. Floats deep balls down the sideline and over the middle. Steps into most throws but still does not put a lot of zip on passes over 10-12 yards. Deep outs are wobbly, late and inaccurate.

Setup/Release: Sets his feet after receiving the snap and usually throws from a balanced position. Adjusts well to poor snaps in any direction. Will get happy feet if his offensive line is leaky - but is tough enough to stand and deliver in the face of pressure. Resets his feet when possible if on the move within or out of the pocket. Fair quickness on his release. Sometimes tries to unload too soon, getting even less than on the ball than on his normal passes.

Reading Defenses: Throws from the shotgun almost exclusively and typically throws quickly to his primary read, which won't happen at the next level. Must learn how to read from the line and adjust while dropping back. Looks to sideline for pre-snap adjustments. Looks off the safeties, but not often enough. Will make poor decisions if not going to his first target - throwing late over the middle or forcing a ball into tight coverage.

On the Move: Fair mobility within the pocket, keeps his eyes downfield and will move around to find a passing lane. Accuracy and spiral is lacking when moving to his left, especially when he cannot reset his feet. Shows the awareness to dump off the ball under pressure. Tough former running back with some elusiveness and vision who will get first downs and more if unchecked. Uses his height to lunge for first downs. Puts ball in outside hand. Will tuck and run too quickly at times.

Intangibles: Four-year starter who helped the Chippewas become a bowl-worthy program. Well-respected in the locker room. Academic All-American for Region IV in 2008.

NFL Comparison: Charlie Frye, Raiders

Great. A QB with questionable arm stength, inaccurate over 10 yards downfield, who has not had to learn to read defenses or throw from under center. Just what the Bills need to add to their stable of weak armed, flair pass specialists. I ma really psyched about this guy!

Pre combine and all star games these two "experts" didn't think highly of Philip Rivers in the '04 NFL draft. That's why I am so high on Lefevour.

The same Rivers who Buddy Nix drafted in San Diego. I have complete confidence in our new front office and coaching staff. We're going to get a QB, and he's going to be a good one. But I don't think it will be LeFevour. I don't think he's good enough to be an NFL starter. Think Kyle Boller.

The people who don't see LeFevour as a worthwhile investment are the same idiot fans that listen to talk radio. We aren't going to make playoffs for 4-5 years. WE have to build a team- we aren't a few players away.

The team you like sucks. This is like blaming Dick Jauron for our playoff drought. He maximized the talent that all of you so vastly overrate.

Schobel is not Phil Hansen and Lee Evans is not Eric Moulds. Draft LeFevour in the 2nd round and let him sit a few years.

technically it was Eli, but you're right sir. Lefevour is a seneca wallace imo, but I like him.

Completing a pass and being accurate are two incredibly different things. 12 inches is the difference between TD and pick six in the NFL. Sometimes less than 12 inches. Stop throwing these worthless stats around. He is not very accurate. His stats are also inflated because of the high number of screen passes he threw, which are easy to complete.

Starting for one season, and being a one year wonder are two different things.

Just because you draft a QB and let him sit for a few years doesnt mean you will have some great QB down the line. Lefevour wont become some superstar just because he learns on the bench. If the plan is to let a guy come in here and learn, then he should Jarret Brown or some other QB worth a draft pick.

So dont use evidence to support my position, um ok?

If screens are so easy to complete, then how come Losman couldn't do it. It takes skill and touch to complete screen passes, vision, going thru progressions. Read the scouting report, He generally can put the ball where he wants it. I'm sorry if you cant see that 65%+ completion equals an accurate quaterback. Also, when breaking down his NFL caliber throws from college, he is still accurate, velocity does need some work, but his accuracy is not in question.

If you don't like him, fine, but don't try to discredit a valid stat. Also 35 wins is a valid stat, 8 come from behind wins, including his last bowl game, is a valid stat. I like WVU, but how much has Jarrett Brown won? Nothing, Not anywhere close to Lefevour, they both will be available in the 3rd, I'll take Lefevour, hell brown should be around in the 5th, maybe we'll get both.
