Fezmid Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Where in the heck do you propose to put this stadium in Lancaster? It is more traffic constrained than OP. Maybe 30+ years ago when a stadium was proposed there - sure. The infrastructure could have been developed to support it. Too late now - too much development in that town. As far as current NFL stadiums I have been in Jax, NO, Cincy, Clev, SD, Indy. Buffalo is better than Jax,NO, and SD IMO. The Ralph is way better than the Metrodome (Vikes) as well.
dwight in philly Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Some of us see the writing in sand, if we do not change things we will not have this team anywhere let alone Buffalo.. Need to use what works and centralizing the location of the stadium works i respectfully disagree. the way the economy is, i do not believe this team just picks up and moves. where? forget LA, toronto?, i suspect they are obvious places, but will never happen. there are too many factors tipping the scales in buffalo's favor. if L A does get a team , it will be the jags, then what?, what other cities can owners use as leverage? please do not say san antonio. jerry jones would never let it happen. so where else could they go?
RyanC882 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 You are bang on the money with that post PTR. The Bills can still be the Buffalo Bills but move them closer to the Ontario/New York border. Niagara Falls Canada is a tourist haven and like you said, tons of hotels. If it was a domed stadium, the NFL would put the Super Bowl there and it would be a huge hit! It almost makes too much sense. +1. I like it. And while they are at it, bring back the Red end zones!!

BillsfaninSixburgh Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Didn't see this posted so thought I'd share: Goodell also addressed the Rams' possible ownership change during his news conference saying the NFL is committed to staying in St. Louis and also said that the Bills, who have been targeted by the Majestic Group, would have to upgrade their stadium as well in the near future. The Ralph vs Heinz Field I'd like to know specifically what upgrades the Commissioner wants to see at RWS. Before moving, I had Bills season tickets, and now I have Pitt (Panther, not Steelers-always a Bills fan!) season tickets at Heinz Field. From a football perpsective, the Ralph is just as nice. Not to mention that RWS holds about 8,000 more than Heinz and 5,000 more than Philly's The Linc. Parking is a heck of a lot better in OP than in Pittsburgh. The luxury boxes at Heinz are a litte nicer, newer and larger, but Heinz doesn't have anything like the corner clubs at the Ralph. The food at both stadiums is similiar (i.e. highly-overpriced, stadium food). So what's the real reason you never hear the league calling for an upgrade at Lambeau or Heinz. Simple - "WINNING TRADITION". If the Bills had the same winning tradition the Steelers or Packers have had over the past 40 years, they wouldn't be a target. Everytime there is talk of moving a team, its always the LOSER franchises that get targeted. A few years ago, before they started winning, it was Minnesota and New Orleans. Now it's Buffalo, St. Louis and Jacksonville. The best way to keep the Bills in Buffalo......PUT A WINNER ON THE FIELD!!!!!
nucci Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 A New Stadium Doomed to Boot if Built should be in the Batavia Area, and The Team should then be nammed the WNY BILLS we all support it, Makes a lot of sense Batavia?? What the hell is in Batavia?

JOHNNYFAIRPLAY Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Goodell is from Jamestown. If anyone will make sure that the Bills stay in Buffalo, it's him. Hate on him all you want for some of his policies, but he's one of the more important figures to look to when it comes to keeping the Bills here. On that note, how does our Stadium compare to others around the league? Obviously, the Ralph won't hold a candle to Lucas Oil stadium, or that behemoth in Arlington, but what about compared to others like Lincoln Financial in Philadelphia, and Arrowhead stadium? yeah, I just dont think being from Jamestown, NY has any signifigance at all in regards to keeping the Bills in Buffalo..ultimately Godell has to answer to someone and they're not going to allow the Bills to stay in Buffalo on the grounsd of "Come on im from there, those are passionate fans." I dont think they're leaving, I thinkn Jacksonville is in much much worse shape. RWS is the biggest piece of trash stadium ever. Its ugly, close to non-functional, and basically in the middle of nowhere. However, it allows for an extremely rowdy and violent atmosphere, costs ownership $0 (thats right, $0), and was built to withstand the worst punishement both naturally and man-made that can be thrown at it. I'd love a new stadium, but that can and will never happen due to the viability of the team in question, and the bureaucracy that runs this mismanaged county and region.
Dante Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Dude.. you live in Cali.. won't be your money. Hey if it were Obama stimulus cash it would be. But for the sake of argument, if the Niners want a new facility, they should build it themselves. I would feel the same if I lived in the Buffalo area.
Canadian Bills Fan Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 A retractable dome adds a lot to the cost. Also the myth of the Bills being snow warriors is long gone. And quite frankly I'm too old to be freezin' my ass off. Trust me people would rather sit in a dome. The players would rather play in a dome. Having a dome would even make signing free agents easier. PTR Not to mention that arm strength would not be an issue for any QB and we could go back to getting California QB's! lol jk
Mike in Horseheads Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 A New Stadium Doomed to Boot if Built should be in the Batavia Area, and The Team should then be nammed the WNY BILLS we all support it, Makes a lot of sense What the hell might as well build it down here in Horseheads, there's a new I-86 interchange and its between Elmira and Corning!

FYI, I saw that article when it first came out and tried to find the original quote from Goodell himself. Here's the closest I got to a direct quote about the Bills stadium situation... http://www.thestar.com/sports/article/7614...-as-unavoidable ...and Goodell's call for upgrade was probably in reference to the Rogers Centre. Without a direct Goodell quote from the original article I'm tempted to say it was schoolboy reporting and the reporter got his signals crossed. The Ralph was upgraded a little more than 10 years ago and it's the least of the Bills' worries, Goodell would be the first to know that.
SuperKillerRobots Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I'd rather not take any Obama money...our grandchildren's grandchildren will be paying for it in the end. That may be true, but at the rate the Buffalo Niagara Region is going by that time if still in the area, they'll bearly make enough to pay taxes in the first place. Our real hope is that this global warming thing works out so that Buffalo turns into the new Florida - on fresh water of course.
300yrds Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Niagara Falls Stadium. The Grand Island Bridge cant handle the traffic it has now at 5pm on a weekday, let alone a 70,000 football fans. Tailgating. Really people think that a Niagara Falls stadium will have the same aura to it as the Ralph, and tailgating will be exactly the same. C'mon, it is not that way at all, it will totally change. Theres little tailgaiting at HEinz Field, the rest gets done in Bars. So expect Niagara Falls to become more overpriced than it already is.

300yrds Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 brought up earlier in the post. just commenting on it...dumbass
Gabe Northern Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 This "where else would they go?" line of reasoning is pretty divorced from reality. Buffalo's economy is smaller than Louisville, Kentucky's and a small fraction of the size of Portland, Oregon's. Where else would they go? Anywhere else.
KD in CA Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 It almost makes too much sense. Aside from the whole "another billion of taxpayer money going to build a stadium that will enrich a tiny handful of people while the owner gets a 30 year exemption on property taxes" aspect. How about having the state donate a useless parcel of land and let the next owner build his own stadium on it.
Hammered a Lot Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 yeah, I just dont think being from Jamestown, NY has any signifigance at all in regards to keeping the Bills in Buffalo..ultimately Godell has to answer to someone and they're not going to allow the Bills to stay in Buffalo on the grounsd of "Come on im from there, those are passionate fans." Plenty of easy in and out parking, major roads all around- Thruway 219 20 20a Rt5, 2nd LOWEST CRIME rate in area surrounding NFL stadiums, great site lines, recently upgated. Good restrooms. What more do you need to watch football people? Remove seats and put in lazy boy seating? Maid serves for drinks and food, depends serve?
