I never heard people cry out when McDaniels was hired at Denver, or Lane Kiffin at Oakland a few years back, due to them being young.

I think most people believe that Buddy Nix knows what he is doing. The more I see what he is doing the more confident I am that he has a solid plan to rebuild this hollow franchise. It is going to take time. With respect to the owner I consider him inept at making quality football decisions not because of his age but because of his pathetic track record. The best thing the meddlesome owner can do for this organization is let the football people (Buddy Nix and staff) make the football decisions and not interfere in that side of the business.
Never NEVER Give-up Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Couldn't agree more. What has me most excited is the fact THEY SEEM TO HAVE A PLAN. An actual PLAN!!!! Nix hiring a young & very well regarded Asst GM and watching Gailey hire his coaches, the strength coaches, looks wise to me. They are probably reviewing personnel and draft possibilities - the quiet (and agonizing) period for football junkies. I like Russ Brandon, but I never had confidence in his talent evaluation skills. Now we have some football guys with a plan. Leave 'em alone to build the plan, then work the plan. FA, trades? and the draft will be very interesting this year. It would be great to see all the folks who called Buddy the bafoon, eat their words and give him some credit for player moves and draft choices.

I believe that Ralph IS inept at football decisions. But his ineptitude goes back many years, so that criticism (at least as it pertains to me) has nothing to do with his age.

Anyway, from what I can tell, both Nix and Wilson are intelligent. Wilson may not be a "football guy" but Nix certainly is the epitome of it.
