dave mcbride Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2010/02/03/c...-among-10-best/ From Football Outsiders, via the Bills site: Florence ranked seventh best in the league among cornerbacks in yards allowed per pass with a 5.7 yard average. His success rate of 62% ranked eighth. For comparison the top ranking corner in both categories, NY Jets’ Pro Bowler Darrelle Revis, had a 3.9 yard allowed average per pass and a success rate of 72%. Below is the explanation of success rate by Football Outsiders as well as the top 10 list. Success Rate, to remind everyone, is the percentage of passes that don’t manage to get at least 45 percent of needed yards on first down, 60 percent of needed yards on second down, or 100 percent of needed yards on third down. lvbillzfan Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 I'm not usually a stat guy, but that is interesting. I like stats that actually say something.
Virgil Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 What's more alarming to me is that we let #2 Greer go to get him
air2mud82 Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Hummm... we potentially could be rolling with the #2, 4 and 8 DB's in that list.
bills_red Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 What's more alarming to me is that we let #2 Greer go to get him D-Fol was brought here to be a back-up who can play. He was cheaper. Greer was also hurt like the whole year.
34-78-83 Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 This solidifies it but we didn't need the stats to see that Florence played quite well and consistently this whole season. Really happy with his production both as a tackler and in coverage as a guy with a little more size to match up with the taller WR's.
stuckincincy Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 6 and 10 remains...6 and 10... 5-11 without IND's lay down...
K-9 Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Anyone else find it interesting that three Jet CBs rank in the top 7? I wonder why that is. Stats can say anything you want them to say and vice-versa. GO BILLS!!!
MartyBall4Buffalo Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 What's more alarming to me is that we let #2 Greer go to get him Not to knock on Greer who's been an exceptionally good player, but the guy only played in 9 games this year for the Saints. A couple of games which came against really bad passing teams. 2 games against the panthers. Vs Buffalo,NYJ,Det,Miami and than Atlanta the Giants and Philly. Yeah his stats look good for a 9 game span, but it's probably a little overblown.

Rust Belt Nights Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 My family is in from Jacksonville and we were discussing how Florence is doing great with the Buffalo Bills. I guess he really could have helped that Jag secondary.
DanInUticaTampa Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 I like Florence a lot. He contributes, doesn't mind being a backup, is greatful to be here, and he doesn't run his mouth like Donte/Mitchell. I think he is one of those things we should be proud of.
