ExiledInIllinois Posted February 7, 2010 Author Posted February 7, 2010 Sorry, I was too young to remember anything that happened in the late 70s. My car has 128K miles on it and I've probably put a total about about 3-5K of repairs, not including tires and oil changes, in the 11 yrs I've owned it. BTW, I get free oil changes for life from Toyota. How many of you have that?? If I had to choose between buying a Ford and a Toyota, I'd buy another Toyota...just not one made in the year 2009 or 2010. 13 years at 128k... That is not even 10k a year... Any car can last not being tested that much... Yet, mufflers do tend to go more on low milelage vehicles. My 2006 Chrysler gets free oil changes at the dealer for life. They do not even sell Chrsyler products anymore because of the recent shake-up and they were dropped. They still honor the free oil changes... Now has almost 60K miles on it in UNDER 4 years. What is the big deal... Especially if you walk into any dealer willing to buy new with cash... ALL will bend over backwards to get your sale. The nice thing about domestic cars is that the makers usually don't get picky (used too) about warranty issues even if the vehicle is stepped out over the warranty by a few hundred or so miles... Not so with my experience with Japanese products... They calculate right down to the mile! They also like to hide their service bulletins too. I didn't know that my Isuzu (1998) had a service bulletin out on the fuel gauge until it was just over the warranty (60k)... It started acting up right at 60k!! I brought it in at 50 miles over and they refused to honor the warranty... They guy at the Olds\Isuzu dealer said: "Too bad, the Japs are real picky... Now if that was an Olds, I could have honored it." Never even told me about the bulletin... I stumbled upon it too late. 50 miles too late! Oh... BTW... That 1998 Isuzu Rodeo was the exact same thing as a Honda Passport... Honda would just rebadge the Rodeo.
